Blimey. I want some of that. Which area do you live in?

Most full-time responsible/permanent jobs don't pay that much.
    Surrey

    I was 16/17 when i started, 18 now...
I have to be honest, i come across very well to the parents, and i am responsible

I have been paid less, i just don't ever go bk... :p

    Thanks.
I was thinking of £5 an hour but wasn't sure if I was way off mark!

It's just to play with my 2 year old while I catch up on sleep with my newborn.
Going out in the evening is a distant memory at this stage!!

5pound an hour!!! woooo i'm 26 and i get 10pound for babysitting 2 kids aged 2 and 6 from 8pm to whenever the mum wants to come home..usually 4am!I've never let her down and take my own food because there's never any at hers. There was a thread about babysitting charges a while ago and I said about how much I get and the fact that I think i need to toughen up and ask for more but as I said then the mum is a single parent (like me) and if I charged much more she probably wouldnt have enough to go out with.I think im to soft :o lol P.s Anyone need a babysitter? :DMy rates are very good judging by what others pay!

I just found this. It is a professional babysitting site, where the babysitters are in some way professionally qualified/experienced.

They say for sitters "If you have experience as a OFSTED Registered Childminder, Nanny, Nursery Nurse or in an other childcare profession "

If you ignore the sign up fees and booking fees, there is a list here of rates per hour.

    http://www.sitters.co.uk/cost.aspx

bearing in mind that these are adult, qualified sitters ( pay is still cr ap though :( )

    not teenagers ....

i think £4 - £5 per hour is more than generous, for a teenage non qualified sitter
