                    What do you think?
She's 16, has no qualifications in childcare but is very responsible with kids.
I don't think she does any other babysitting but i do know she works a few hours in the farmshop on saturdays.
What can i offer that won't be insulting?
When i was a live-in au pair as a teenager i was paid £10 a WEEK!! Rip off! My mum had arranged it - very bad deal. Oh, and the family was stinkingly rich!

            Hi there!
I babysit for my neighbours and i was 16 when i started. Im paid about £10-£15 from 7:30pm til 11:30pm. And i get an extra £5 if they go past midnight.
Im quite happy with this rate mainly because i only live across the road, so i dont have to worry about paying to get home i.e bus or taxi. And the kids are a pleasure to look after! Its really good fun! im 18 almost 19 now and im still doing it!
Think thats fair? Depends when i suppose? If its just an hr on an evenin maybe think about what she'd be doing? Like will she need to make sure they do there homework or eat there tea? Or if due in the day will she maybe just be sat down on her bum? lol :-)I'm getting married in August 2015:j0

If it is just an hour, I'd say £5.
Anything less would seem a bit mean as they've put themselves out for more than an hour to commit to that one hour.
I'd also leave out biscuits/cake/something to eat too.0

            Hi
I would give a minimum of a tenner for the hour. But, lets say it was 2 hours then I would give also give a tenner for that time period. Then £15 for 3 hours babysitting. But saying that it would not be a regular thing, so paying maybe a little over the odds would not enter my mind.0

£5 for just an hour - but not £5 PER hour, IYSWIM
If it's while you go out for an evening then I would lower the hourly rate a bit, to say £4 an hour. Reasonable wthout being mean.
I babysat for my mum's friend when I was 15 - I got £5 for doing 8pm-midnight. AND there was no food to be had lol.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Am I that way out with my minimum of a tenner, everyone is coming in at a fivver. The reason for a tenner is that I would appreciate being able to go out and it is something that is not a regular thing. However, if it was a weekly arrangement I would pay maybe £12 for 3 hours babysitting.0

I think £10 minimum for anything upto 2hr & then £5 pounds an hour up till 1.00am + the taxi fare home if needed. When my children were younger we didn't know any 16/17yr olds that were prepared to babysit because they always wanted to go out with their mates.
So if you have a good reliable babysitter, hang onto them
 Make it worth their while.:D0

I wish I could have babysat your kids when I was a teen!:D
Tbh, if you can afford a tenner for an hour, then that's great - I think this is more to discuss what is the minimum amount to pay without being mean. Obviously if someone is in a position to pay more than the minimum then they should.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
