We're actually pretty good..... the only real thing is that OH like to keep the tap running when he brushes his teeth! We both have showers, and DS only has one or two baths per week - he gets in the shower with Daddy the rest of the time. I think one thing that helps is that we have Econ 7, so we can't 'afford' to fill a bath, otherwise thats all the hot water gone for the day! I have even put small drinks bottles filled with stones into our slimline cistern - the LL would laugh if he saw that! :D

We're quite good too, but I worry that it would be another thing to stress about.

I get in enough trouble with my DH for turning the lights out to save leccy - he says ' ohh have I finished in that room then' :rotfl:

  • Property is about 15 years old.... just checked tenancy agreement, and no meter reading on there altho there is for the elec.... Now I'm worried! I think I'll give them a call tomorrow, and add that to the list of things to sort out.... Glad I mentioned it now tho!

sorry wasn't trying to worry you Sarah, I'm sure they would have mentioned it when you moved in - but better to double check just in case.

  • I use my (free) months to pay the car tax. At least that is one less thing to worry about.

I dont know hun - you dont want to call them, in case you're not paying enough. The new bills will be out in the next month or so, maybe that will explain things ;)

I'm not metered. I often wonder whether it would be cheaper, but then I watch my 2 keeping the tap running etc and bottle out

Personally, I find metered water more expensive, especially if you have children, the washing machine constantly on, bathing X 4 everyday, I pay £38 a month for metered but in my previous home I paid £23 a month, and its only another bedroom:confused: , so no more water usage.

  • I did post on here last night, but my computer kept hanging, so for some reason it didn't show up!!
I'm going to use my 2 months "free" money to pay for a years car tax as cheaper than 6 months at a time & can forget about it for a while.
Also since reading this I've discovered we pay our local water ( the cheapest one unfortunately ) over 8 months, so will have £33 extra, so thanks a lot for pointing that out:T

Ours should have been feb and march but the council too forever to set up the direct debit so it'll just be march off for the ct.

Water rates - ours is less than £30 a month (no meter) - no idea why but they keep recalculating a couple of times a year and so we never seem to have any months off at all
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • I pay water over 8 months and council tax over 10 months ... but we pay our council tax weekly over 10 months so I think we have a couple of weeks payments in Feb ... we'll see soon anyway!
