In current times what is the best place to invest money?

Options
I am a public sector worker and am looking for investing some of my money.
I am living in an ex local authority recently purchased house on interest only repayments.
I am thinking of investing money in relatively safe places of investment.
Where should that be
Is it property , is it banks, where should I put my money
Inside I am THINKING.

fixed interest funds probably have the best balance for risk and return at the moment.

rammster, are you expecting this money to be enough to pay off the mortgage? If you are than you're going to need to use investing within a stocks and shares ISA to get a suitable growth rate.
  • Yes the stock market does sound good

What about putting some away for ultimately safety in cash, in high interest accounts or fixed interest accounts ("bonds") ?

I wouldn't touch property in this country with a bargepole, it's teetering on the edge of a drop IMO. The stockmarket is in turmoil and whilst some think it is good to buy now (as things have dropped), it may well drop further, but it's a risk you take when you invest.

Apart from you spamming which is against forum rules, overseas property is a high risk transaction and not at all suitable for the OP.

offplan, overseas, debt bubble all make it a daft proposition to those that dont have a clue.

Its a disgrace that you attempt to target such inexperienced individuals to get your commissions.

In England it's very hard to find the right property deal. Possible, but hard as there is strong competition on every property that can make good profit, and growth isn't massive even in the good days! You need to look at emerging markets where you see potential and economic growth is happening. Dubai is on the top list now, but China, India, Brazil are also some of the good markets. Dubai has had the biggest GDP growth since 1990, and continues to grow massively with a government strategic plan called "Dubai Strategic Plan 2015", making it surely one of the easiest options to go for especially when knowing that it's been voted the safest city in the world, and it has 30% of the construction cranes in the world, the largest port in the world, the world's largest airport [under construction], the largest malls in the world, in addition to the taxation benefits for businesses which will secure economic growth, as it's appealing many businesses, including the massive corporations.
Let me know if you need anymore clarity on this matter. I work in the Mayfair office for the largest private property developer in the Middle East, so I know quite a lot about it.

    Best regards,

That's twice you've recommended foreign property investments to beginners who have identified themselves as low risk. If nothing else, that's against board rules and increadibly immoral.

For those who might be looking and thinking "not a bad idea", foreign property investments are right up the risk scale because they're focusing on certain markets which can bubble and burst as much as UK markets, and also because of currency fluctuations between the various countries. They are by no means low-risk, so if you're looking for a low-risk investment and someone suggests foreign property to you, I would strongly recommend walking well away from them, as they're already lying to you.

Looks like Rammah's posts got deleted, which is definitely for the best. I've removed the contact details from my own post now, but will leave the quote so that people can see what to avoid!

    Weird!!!
I don't understand where you're coming from and your approach to what I've written.
I wasn't spamming, and I'm definitely not immoral. You have my contact details provided, and I'm happy to speak or meet any of you in person.
Anyway, good luck investing in bank accounts if that's what pple decide to do. My opinion is that property investments are the right thing to do. Also, I'm surely not trying to get weak/poor individuals money to make some commission. If anything, I'm looking for the wealthy individuals, who are looking to make massive investments. They are already investing in what I mentioned above, but anyway, no hard feelings, I'm not giving my opinion anymore. There are other forums specilized for what I do. Here is clearly the wrong place.

When you come on to a forum and give your contact details, advise people looking for low risk investments to go in to property (something you just happen to deal in) and invite them to contact you off-site for advice on how to invest, that's most definitely spamming.

If you can't understand why telling someone who is looking for a safe home for their money to look into foreign property investments is immoral, then you are probably either lacking in compassion or you are woefully underestimating the risks associated with foreign property. In either case it doesn't exactly make for a particularly good recommendation!

Finally, you're right about this being the wrong place. This is NOT somewhere for you to generate leads. This is a forum where people come looking for very generic investment advice, and the core ethos of the forum is to save money, then invest wisely. Dropping all money into property and nothing else (as you said in another post) is called speculation, and it is not a smart way for someone to invest their life savings, especially if they are to pay off the mortgage at some point in the relatively near future. You made absolutely no effort to determine the goals of the investor, ignored the request for information about safe places to invest, and plugged your own business for reasons that can only really benefit you from what I've seen.

Can you see why some of us regular visitors might take exception to that?
