PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING:
Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour.
Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Why do EAs think you will be impressed by excessive use of first names?

It's my pet hate too! I have worked as an EA and my colleagues all used to laugh at me when I used to address a frequent visitor to our office (a landlord and also property developer) as "Mr Singh". He was a young, quite flash guy, and everyone else called him by his first name and "had a laugh" with him.
They soon changed their tune though when he moved to another agent.. Apparently I was the only one in the office who he felt showed him enough respect
I was brought up to understand that it's polite to use someone's title + surname until they invite you to "call me xxxx".They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
