night storage heater vs standalone oil heater

  • Hi there
I moved into a property which is storage heating throughout, and on economy 7 (although it does appear to still be extremely expensive). The landlady is looking at getting electric radiators fitted throughout and removing the storage heaters. Does anyone know the benefits of these and if they are indeed a lot cheaper to run as I have never had them before???

Conventional electric heaters running on a standard daytime tariff will be more than twice as expensive as storage heaters running on E7!
  • Is your landlady looking at having electric radiators to run off an electric boiler or plug in electric radiators? I guess either way, this would be a lot more expensive than running storage heaters from ecomony 7 as this is the cheapest rate of electricity specifically for night storage heaters. You might find the follwing leaflet helpful as it outlines the differences in fuel types and costs http://www.theheatingshop.co.uk/faqa.asp?id=29
Basically, it looks like Gas is the cheapest form of heating but I know lots of places dont have gas so have to look at electric heating..
