What a lot of rubbish has been posted on this thread!
I work for Everest, although not in window sales, and can tell you that our "Fit The Best" slogan was challenged a couple of years ago, and we spent thousands of pounds and a year proving our case to the Advertising Standards Authority. Our case was upheld by the ASA, and was widely reported in several national newspapers - the ASA verdict was that Everest windows and doors are of superior quality to anything else on the market, so the slogan can legitimately be used.
Obviously that means the prices will be high, but as the OP found, reps often have access to promotional discounts to create a value for money proposition.
You also get a lifetime guarantee on the sealed units, which is a worthwhile consideration from a company that's been in business for 43 years.
We're now getting lots of enquiries from customers who bought cheaper glazing from local companies a few years ago, and have found the units starting to leak, and the supplier gone out of business.
So, pay your money and take your choice, but remember the bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx.
