If you only wanted to remove the dodgy searches, you can use the down arrow to highlight the seach string and press delete.

Although retaining your google search history is hardly an important matter, you might legitimately find the autocomplete history useful when filling in forms.

How when you click the arrow can you highlight anything, it won't let me highlight just click then it goes to whatever I've clicked.

Don't click it, just 'select' it by moving your mouse over it or using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard and then press Shift+Delete, i.e. hold the Shift key down and press the Delete key.

    Hi starlite,

If you haven't already got it, I would definitely recommend "CCleaner." This will clear all junks including temp files, history from not only IE but also Firefox.
    For more info -

CCleaner, Just remember when installing to untick "install yahoo toolbar"

Hummm, not sure why that isn't working. Try using AutoWhat? instead. You can download it from http://www.mikeshardware.com/downloads/index.html.

The form field for the Google search box is named 'q', so in AutoWhat? tick the box next to 'q' and then click View / Change. This brings up a temporary web page where you click in the blank input field next to 'q' and press the down arrow key to show all entries. Press Delete to delete the highlighted entry in IE, or press Shift+Delete in Firefox.

Well there's quite a few of us who are jumping with joy at this newly acquired knowledge. Lots of "untoward" stuff will be cleared tonight from many a computer...:D. Including mine, of course.:)
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

But then again https://www.ccleaner.com does a much better job, if installing just select not to install the yahoo toolbar:)
