Printer difficulty

Have just connected my old printer to my new system. Have received a Vista message that drivers are already installed and ready to go.
I want to print a page direct from the internet.
When I click on the Vista printer icon, I get a box labelled 'Save as' and referring to Microsoft XPS docs.
I don't understand what's going on. Can anyone help, please?

What happens if you right click the web page and choose print.0
-
Then I get a 'print' box where the main thing seems to be a choice of options calling itself 'select printer' - the two choices being:
'add printer' and 'microsoft xps document writer'.0 -
Hi,
have a look in Control Panel, to see if your printer is listed and that it is ticked as default printer.0 -
Have checked the Control Panel and the only thing listed is the Microsoft XPS document writer.
When I click on 'add a printer' it says 'only use this if you don't have a USB printer - windows automatically recognises these when they are connected'
Indeed, as mentioned earlier, I had a message immediately saying that drivers were already installed.
I'm totally confused. Help, someone!0 -
Can I please bump this one, as the difficulty is still ongoing. Is there any wise head who can read the thread and speak to this one?0

Let us know the make/model of the printer.0

Lexmark Z110
-
Lexmark do not provide Vista drivers for the Z11.
I suggest you ignore the "if you don't have a USB printer" message and continue and try to install the XP drivers from here.

Hope that helps.0 -
Ok, have gone to Control Panel and selected 'add a printer'. Have found the Z11 as being on the Vista list and selected it as the default printer.
Only problem is that an error message has flashed up and 'Z11 error' is now featured as the default printer!
The damn thing still won't print!
Can I add that I have obtained an adapter capable to link my new pc (which only has USB ports) to my printer (which has an 36 pin parallel port). This wouldn't be the cause of the problem, surely?0 -
Ok - to update:
I've gone through the process again and copied down the actual error message which is 'Error loading LXADSUI.DLL - The specified module could not be found'
I've googled this and it seems to be the actual driver necessary for the printer. I find this astonishing therefore that the Z11 should actually be on the Vista list which implies built-in drivers.
Can anyone confirm this reading of the situation and does it mean I can download this 'module' from somewhere on the net?0
