Borough Market is open on Saturdays.

If you go to the science museum, v&a etc and want to grab lunch to go there is a tesco express near gloucester road station and a good sandwich shop further up the road towards hyde park.

My family were all down this weekend and I sent some of them off with mp3 players with this guided walk podcast:

There are over 30 London walks on that site, the one I linked to is along Southbank from London Bridge. They kept quoting facts at me so I think they enjoyed it!! :D

Think it's also open on Fridays as well.

Don't go to the Science Museum, it appears to have foigotten it's a museum and not a (poor) theme park.

Camden Town is a waste of time too right now ;)

The following is a good day and all on foot from Waterloo Station. London Eye, London Aquarium, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, the 2 Abbeys, St James's Park, Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Piccadilly.

Tower of London and London Dungeon over the other side of London is another whole day out.

Natural History Museum is fantastic, and another full day to do it properly.
  • Ali1972 is right - Greenwich is a brilliant day out, and the cafe in the maritime museum is surprisingly cheap and good! Also greenwich market is brilliant.
Mummyyummy - camden lock market is a fun day out (although a bit "alternative" in places...), spitalfields market is also v.g. - near liverpool st station.
    xx
:grin:If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you

try www.tfl.gov.uk for travel directions in london - this will give you some options so you can decide what will suit your family - have a good day in town :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Public holidays tend not to be a problem in London unless it's Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Trust me - I work most public holidays!;)

There is a thread further down this page on the london 2 for 1 offer - a valid train ticket gets you two for one entry at London Dungeons and loads of other places - you can go to the website (which is on the other thread) or pick up a leaflet at most mainline stations in london when you arrive.

Also, all the main museums are free - the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Portrait Gallery, the Tate and Tate Modern, etc.

I recommend looking to see what's on at Somerset House - once saw an awesome Tiffany's exhibit there, and it's quite reasonably priced, I recall.

If it's dry and warmish, Kew Gardens is lovely, but around £12 a head - there's a Henry Moore exhibtiion in the grounds until March, and lots to see.

Kensington Palace? Westminster Abbey? Try the Timeout london website as well, it's pretty comprehensive for events.
    Good luck

hello, I am going to London on 2/3/08.
I would like to go to the London Dungeons-I will travel by coach from Cardiff but then hoping to use UG Day Travel whilst around London-will this be elligible to use for a 2 4 1 entry?
Also which is the nearest UG station for The London Dungeons.

    THANKYOU ALL IN ADVANCE...

    Az xx
Assalamu alaikum. May Allahs blessings be upon you
