The V&A, Science and Nat History museums are all in the same street and well worth spending hours in. But the food there is really expensive. Eat first or take sarnies with you. It`s about a 10 minute walk to Harrods from there which is always worth a visit.

Don't forget Tesco vouchers can be used for days out. £2.50 is worth £10.00 for example Tower of London.
  • A lovely day that we enjoy doing is walking along the South Bank, you can go on the London Eye or to the London Aquarium (next to each other), walk past Festival Hall and the National theatre, go to the Tate Modern (they've got the big crack in the floor ATM!) - I would really recommend it. Then opposite TM there's the wobbly bridge (forgot to say as well the Globe theatre is right next door with a nice Pizza Express next to that) Go over the wobbly bridge and visit St Pauls cathedral.

I had to take some friends sightseeing in London and used the Original Tour Bus company.

I had expected it to be a ripoff but was pleasantly surprised by the value they offer. I paid with tesco vouchers which made it feel even better,

Up to the end of February, £17.50 pp (if booked online) buys you two days travelling round their various routes; several walking tours and a free river cruise. If you scroll down the page above and look for 'choice menu' you will also find that you can upgrade your ticket for £3 to get a meal at one of the following places:

FISH AND CHIPS- at The Sherlock Holmes Pub. Treat yourself to traditional Fish and Chips in the atmospheric Victorian surroundings of the popular Sherlock Holmes Pub, in Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar Square. Your choice ticket is valid between 12 noon and 6 pm.

CLASSIC ENGLISH CREAM TEA- at Bramah Tea & Coffee Museum. Enjoy scones with clotted cream and jam, cake & tea in London's only Museum dedicated traditional teas and coffees, on Southwark Street near London Bridge Station. Your choice ticket is valid between 12 noon and 5 pm.

HEARTY BANGERS & MASH- at Tiger Tiger. Savour the Chef's Sausage of the Day with creamy mash and onion gravy in a stylish Grill & Bar located on the Haymarket in Piccadilly Circus. Your choice ticket is valid between 12 noon and 5 pm.
  • If you like theatre The Globe is £5 to stand with the riff-raff & watch. (where we stand) :) More expensive for a seat ticket but the views have pillars in the way. Great
value, good atmosphere, be prepared plays on all weathers (no cover)

    :)

Borough market for foodies - don't know when it's open but I'm pretty sure i've been there on a saturday - you could walk along the river to get to it - just go the opposite way to Louisa Jane past the oxo tower and the globe - really nice walk and free samples at the market.
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Just spent the weekend in London and can recommend the Duck Tour. Not cheap at £18.50 (although I'm guessing that access to the slipway into the water probably costs them a fair bit), but it lasts for about an hour and a quarter, roughly 20mins of which is on the water and was really good fun.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Pettycoat Lane (best on a Sunday) easy to find from Liverpool St, Aldgate and Aldgate East stations. Also handy for Brick Lane for a really good cheap authentic curry and second-hand/bootsale type of market also on Sunday.

Camden Market every day....just outside tube station.

Museums don't forget the Imperial War Museum, my personal favourite.
