Huge O2 GPRS Charges

Billing in the phone? Hmm, so why does a quick google for 'CDR' (or chargeable data record) and 'GPRS' provide loads of info on how the various nodes for GPRS produce CDR to send to the billing server?0

hi, with reference to my post above. i requested a report from o2 on my internet usage. as kevin noted above, the times recorded on the report don't seem to relate to when i would have actually used the internet through my phone. but can anyone advise as to whether it is correct for there to be many times recorded on the one day even if my usage would have only been on one occassion each day (i guess that would make sense if the phone uploads the information to the network once in a while). and also (i know this may sound very silly), but for fellow o2 customers (or others) what unit is duration measured in on the report, e.g. it is recorded as 1, 3600, 2200, 3, etc. I can't quite make sense of what that means.
thanks, and apologies for being so obviously dense about this!0 -
UPDATE
=====
Having spoken and joined forces with various people with a similar problem this has now been resolved.
Please note that this problem relates to XDA Orbits on O2 which incurred large (100-200MBytes) charges on or around the 30th and 31st of December 2007. Charges could have been anything upt o £700.
If your high charges relate to this particular issue as described above please call contact Sarah Reynolds on 0845 330 0684 or mail her at sarah.reynolds@02.com. She is a senior complaints expert at O2, is well aware of the problem, accepts that it is an O2 issue, and will organize a full refund.:j
Please only call her if you match the problem described above.
Cheers,

Nice one.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

This is a very interesting thread and wondered if anyone had any update on how this panned out. I used my mobile for the first time as modem through the USB link for 2 hours on the way back from london. I was absolutely staggered to see that in that short time I hit 21mb, which is 1mb over my monthly limit...ouch. I can see why there is a lot of forum questions about GPRS. Either people do not understand them fully or the big four have latched onto a great money making sheme.
One other point is whilst roaming you have to be aware of minimum data charging pricing, which I think at the moment is at 200kb, which could work out at £0.97 per connection. So if you think it is cheaper to disconnect/reconnect to check email....thinik again. e.g. checked emails 62 times, but the usage did not get anywhere near the 200kb limit...CHARGE £62!!!!! ouch.0
