I have O2 XDA which has wifi
I also have wireless router at home ( virgin broadband)
Do I incur any charges to browse internet , check email, and download on O2 XDA via wifi at home.
I rang O2 customer care. they were the most unhelpful lot.
i know it cost to use GPRS
any help

Don't think there are any charges if you use your own wifi connection, however make sure that you are connected via wifi before you download stuff else the phone might use the phone operator data access and incur charges.0

my xda will default to wifi ( no charge via mobile) and warns you if it is about to connect to 3g/gprs
( now using a T Mob sim in it, as good gprs tariff )Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
No, it won't cost you anything. If you feel a bit unsure, put the phone in flight mode, you should still be alble to access whatever you want, proving that its nothing to do with your sim card, and therefore you can't be charged!0

I have XDA orbit. I have wireless router at home. i have enabled the wifi.
However whenever i try to browse the internet- by default GPRS becomes active which costs me. i have to manually disconnect it. But after few minutes , GPRS becomes active again. I have gone through manual and help section on my XDA many times but cant figure it out.
Is there any way that my XDA defaults to wifi rather than GPRS
any help will be appreciated0 -

Is this a recent thing - I have an older XDA, couple of weeks since I used WiFi, just tried it now (after seeing your post), and it's desperately trying to connect via GPRS - had to take the battery out to stop it.
Normally, just had one "please please please use gprs" each timel I stopped/restarted WiFi from the connection manager, currently suspecting grasping barstewardry from Odure...0 -
if you dont need to use gprs ever i would just disrupt o2's gprs settings, so it can not connect even if it wants toYes Your Dukeiness0
