A Month Before
Options
Why is it that mobile companies want people to ring them 'a month before' when a contract is about to expire. If both parties agree on a contract that should end in a year then it should end in a year! If so why do they call us when the contract is about to end and offer us new contracts or upgrades or downgrades.
I find this a devious plot to get more money from people. I still get sent letters of 'unpaid' bills when I have already left 3 and using another mobile network.
What are your thoughts on this Martin?
They are acting like little kids who want more and more candy all the time.
Many Thanks

Mr Coco,
Welcome to the forum.
I thought the typical contract was an ongoing monthly contract with a minimum term of 12 months (or 18 months). It is also my understanding that to terminate the contract you had to give one month's notice.
Of course, I may be entirely wrong...
Oh just read your second para again...
If you just 'walk away' from a contract after its minimum term, i.e. without terminating it in one way or another, you will continue to get monthly bills from the network provider.0 -

Its normal business practice that you have to give 30 days notice when you wish to terminate your contract,as it reaches the end of its term. You agree to this when you sign contract in first place.0

Interesting analogy.....how about consumers act like little kids who want a new toy but decide they don't need to read the instructions as they know best. Then when it breaks/fails it's the companies fault for not telling them?0 -
note that if you WANT to stay with yr current provider u can normally renegotiate new [better + new handset] deals up to 2 months before contract expiry date...
this is normally for contracts directly with provider0 -
Three said the exact same thing to me.
I asked if the contract would be kept running and was told albeit reluctantly, the contract would end, but i would still be charged for using the line rental.0 -

Yes you would pay for your line rental until the 30 days notice is up.But they cant charge you after that for a service you dont have.0
