ah i think i have spotted the problem
the yellow cable they ask me to connect is double ended with the small square but i think they have given me the wrong lead as it should be like the red one above.0 -
It does actually sound like you have no ethernet on your laptop which is very rare and odd! Can you post a make and model of your laptop if its a dell the support tag on the bottom of it would be handy0

so they've given you 2 phone cable ones? does the yellow cable have just 2 wee cables coming out it and going into the connector or 8?0 -
so the grey cable has an identical connector (on one end) as the yellow cable (on both ends)?.. highly unusual for a new netgear router, the yellow one should be thicker than the grey one.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

The red cable is an ethernet lead (the sme as your yellow) - it doesn't matter what colour it is.
