One and all,
Having been involved with raising funds for our recent refurbishment at our village social club I thought I would share with anyone planning to raise funds within a limited area what sort of thing we have found successful.
In return I am hoping that someone out there may have some "golden nugget" ideas for how to get people to donate their hard earned readdies!
Fetes: the biggest winners here financially seem to be the good old raffle! especially where prizes are donated rather than purchased upfront.
Auction of Promises: this can be a really fun occasion especially with the variety of ideas put forward, though our most recent one we ran through the web service http://www.auctionofpromises.com and actually rose twice times as much as the previous three year's local events put together.
Boot sales: though a bit limited to admissions, running some entertainment and a bar is a must if it is to be worthwhile for fundraising.
Any more, any more?

looked at this auction of web site
poor spelling :-
Promise donaters and bidders keep up to date with progress and queries
only a mobile for contact on the site registration details , no contact address or tel number on the web site, only a email form

Agreed Browntoa. It looks like a new side. the logo reminds us of one that is associated with charities, so to a casual observer, it seems fine, but it just looks wrong to me.
Perhaps it's just new and simple, but it doesn't even explain why you need the site to run the auction. Promise auctions are pretty simple to do, and I don't know why you'd use this website in particular to run it.
Steve P, perhaps you could tell us more about how you used it, who for and so on.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

Hi guys, you have some good ideas for fundraising, wondered if I could pick your brains? I am looking at doing the 5k run in birmingham in sept for CF but would like to know how I could raise more money than just getting sponsers? I work in a small office but big warehouse and although I work evenings would probably be able to get in during the day if needed to, any ideas? I was thinking of a coffee morning but know that my supervisor does this yearly for macmillan , so something different might be good. TIA kal25:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

I used to organise Treasure Map treasure hunts when I did fund raising. Draw a large map of an island with various features on it (like a treasure Island type of thing) Divide up into squares and sell the squares (£1 each or the like - so £100 squares = £100 ) When you have sold all the squares, cut up the map and get someone to pull a square out (like a raffle). I used to blag the prizes from various shops, bakeries, local cinema etc and I build up a stash of prizes now from the freebies thread that can be bundled up and used for things such as this0

Hi Kal25,
I think coffee mornings would be ok as macmillan runs in september so you could do something before then.
How about approaching local businesses to see if they would be interested in leaving a basket of products which people can order or buy and them giving a % of the profit? I think companies like the book people often do this, reps/ consultants for mlm companies eg body shop, cards, books etc/
You could run sweepstakes, 100 club, bonus balls.
Often mlm company reps/ distributors will run somehting like people buying a raffle ticket/ square and the winning number gets x amount in products and the rest goes to the charity.
