Fundraising Ideas

Options
Hi, i feel a bit rude to intrude on the forum like this, with thios being my first post and all, however after browsing for a while, i was unable to find a specific threadrelating to this..

I am sixthform student, and along with a friend have been able to successfully secure a place in the Flora London Marathon, 2008, and so therefore have to fundraise.

I was just wondering if anyone had any fundraising ideas they could provide me with? already got car wash, non school unifoorm day and cake sales.

Many Thanks, Chris

  • Hi - I too am looking for some fundraising ideas.

It's a little cold for a carwash. I am going to start small by selling cakes etc at work and then maybe plan something bigger for the summer like a party and some BBQ's etc.

I guess you have less time so.... maybe do a quiz night or something?
  • basically, i think we are going to try our best to get most people in the sixthform to sponsor us, write to local business', see if they can either sponsor us, or donate for an auction or sale type of thing..

additionally, if all else fails, we may say we'll run as Adam and Eve if we reach our target as a last ditch attempt of getting some extra cash

look at organising some fundraising events through the college you're at. I'm sure there are people who could help you plan them, and bring in some cash too.

haven't the charity you got the places from given you any ideas?
for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.

If the charity you're supporting haven't suggested setting up a JustGiving page, that would be my first suggestion!

Send a letter to the board of governors at the school. I'm governor of a school and we rarely turn down requests for money from students, either for events like this or for trips like scout/guide jamborees. Typically we will give £100-£200 per request.

  • :j i am doing a sponsored zorbing in september (going down hill in a inflatable ball) hope to raise loads for charity
  • I do Virgin Cosmetics (and no I am not touting for business) and do lots of fundraising. I am taking part in this years race for life and donating all my commission from parties until 20th June.
You could see if there is a consultant in your area who would be willing to do the same. My average fundraising party raises £120+.
:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:
  • thanks for all your ideas, i have since i last posted, spoken to the headteacher, we are looking into doing a slave auction at school. where a group of children in the lower end of the school can buy a GDB/scribe for the day, also need to convince the school council to support our cause for a non-school uniform day..and also we are going to try and win over some of the more 'hairy' peoples within the school for a sponsored waxing.

additionally, i forgot to mention at the start that we have collectively (my friend and I) set up a justgiving page and also a group on facebook..

As for the idea of targetting a Virgin Costmetasist, i shall look into that, thank-you ellie.

As for writing to local business' i think we shall target ones who we have connections with first, as for the others, do you think a generic letter with 'sir/maddam' would be appropriate, or a more personal approach? we plan to letter bomb the high street within the next week or so. Thanks again everyone. Chris
