My rear view mirror fell off this morning:eek:

I was only wiping it with a tissue whilst the car warmed up a bit.

How do I stick it back please.

Its a renault laguna if that helps.

any motorist shop/ebay will sell you a special glue kit just for rear view mirrors....dont bother with super glue as it wont work well

Don't waste your cash on DIY solutions - they don't work! Go to your local windscreen fitting place and get them to do it using their heated glue system. I've never paid for it doing.

Recommend Dave's suggestion - it'll only fall off again....

I think Daveyjp's suggestion is the best one. I tried rear view mirror glue from wilkinsons on a high level brake light on the rear screen. The glue was as useful as a chocolate teapot. Just left messy marks on the screen. Stuck it on and held it for ages like the instructions said. Went inside the house, came back out, and it had fallen off. Did this about 3 times holding longer than the instructions said. Fell off every single time.

I had better luck with no more nails permanent double sided tape, stuck instantly and has stayed stuck, plus it is clear. The carton claims it is heat and water resistant etc.
  • i got some specialist glue for mine from main dealer it's been 2 years now and never fallen of again

Get the proper sticky pad from a garage, clean off any old glue, THEN warm the place where the pad is going to stick with a hair drier, and then warm the end of the mirror before you put it onto the pad.

Halfords sell a product by Loctite for sticking rear view mirrors. Make sure the area is properly cleaned before sticking the mirror on, or the repair won't last.

My local halfords said they didnt have anything suitable in stock when I said my rear view mirror fell off.
    Not just the glass.

The whole thing is off, plastic unit etc that sticks onto the windscreen.
I will try to find a windscreen replacement place near me to see if they can help.

halfords really should have something...maybe you got a extra gormless member of staff

maybe try a smaller owner operated shop

i search ebay for "rear view mirror adhesive" and found several maybe worth a look , although it shouldnt be hard to locate localy

id suggest you get one that one thats an actual tube of glue and not a double sided sticky tape

    something like this...
