Best deal on a Sony Ericsson K750i?

dom
dom Posts: 9 Forumite
Hello everyone - this is my first post (so be gentle!).

I'm trying to find the best contract deal for a Sony Ericsson K750i, ideally a package with x-net minutes and text bundles included. Are cashback deals the best way to go? And are they usually reliable? And should I run a mile before considering 3 as a network?

Apologies if this has all been covered elsewhere and thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Yes cashback is definitely the way to go, just make sure you go with a big company.

Don't think this is a 3g phone so won't work with 3 anyway.

I am sure some people will disagree but I don’t recommend cash back deals, purely because I have had bad experiences in the past. But I am sure there are good reputable companies out there, so it is definitely worth thinking about.

I got a Sony Ericsson 750i last week on a 12-month contract with O2 online. It came with a bluetooth headset and I got 300 xnet anytime minutes and 50 texts per month and free voicemail retrieval for £30 pm. You can get 200 xnet anytime minutes and 500 texts for the same price so I suppose it depends on whether you prefer to text or call people.

O2 delivered it within 2 days and also ported my number over, which was relatively painless so I was quite pleased. Their insurance gold option is also quite a good policy as it covers accidental damage, water damage, theft, loss and it is £4.99 per month. Which is worth considering as this phone is worth approx £250. But I am sure some people on here wont recommend insurance but really it is up to you.

This is only my opinion but I cant recommend the SE 750i highly enough, its easy to use, the camera is amazing and it comes with a data cable & software to connect it to the PC which opens up all kinds of features. It comes with a 64mb memory stick duo and also has 32mb of internal memory. I bought a 512mb memory stick duo from ebuyer so I can now store more pics, videos and media etc.

    I hope this helps

P.S - In my opinion 3 are C@£P and I really would rather stick my testicles in a blender than go back to them. Coverage is extremely poor, handsets are large (few exceptions), they have poor customer service and very few people have 3G phones and thus its difficult to ever use video calling etc.

Cheers everyone, that's all really helpful.

(And Essexdelboy out of deference to the safety of your testicles I'll give 3 a wide swerve!)

Be-aware Dial-a-phone cashback is usually in "AIRTIME CREDIT" not cashback to your bank account!

I see that as a good thing as it pays for your line rental, and calls over your free ones, and if it isn't all used up it carries onto the next bill.

I'd only spend it on  if they gave me it back into my account :rotfl:

Some people have been having problems with the above because the mobile phone companies tend to give you 'cashback' on redemption after months 3, 6, 9 and 12 and if you dont sign up for another year it can be difficult (or impossible depending on the provider) to get you 'month 12 redemption' money back.

I bought my phone from a T-Mobile shop. If I go back there to get my upgrade, am I likely to get a poor deal?

Go in there and haggle, quote what you could get if you went to another company and see what they would be prepared to offer you. Have a scout around and see whether 'what you are currently on/and what t mobile will offer you' and see if it is competitive.

You usually will get a better deal if you change providers, as a new company will offer you more for your business that your present provider. However you will 99% of the time get a better deal on line or over the phone that actually in store as they have varying degrees of financial overheads and thus have a little less flexibility in order to gain and/or keep existing customers.

If in doubt find out what t mobile will offer you and come back to this site and compare it to some of the other deals floating around

I received last week a k750i from vodafone with 75 anytime minutes, 100 texts, 3 months free insurance, half price line rental for 6 months, a free £6 extras pack (equivalent to 100 texts, 33 picture messages or 20 video messages), stop the clock (use 3 minutes of contract time, and talk for 1 hour off peak) for £16 a month.
    Phone was free.
Browsing on vodafone live is also free.

This is an 18 month contract though.
And i was a new customer.
