What do you think of my tarriff?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of switching to a different tarriff- I haven't changed my one for something like 4 years so far, but I'm not so sure whether I should switch as some months my bill can be as low as £12, but sometimes it goes up to over £35.

I got this tarriff with BT Genie (now O2 Online):

Genie 100 Anytime minutes
- 100 minutes free BT mobile and landline per month
- 725 free any network texts per month
Monthly rental £8.51 per month + VAT

I'm not sure what the cross-network calls cost, and I never use up my text allowance so I don't know about that either. Major downside of the service is that there's no extra services such as MMS, WAP or GPRS.

I've started making more voice calls than usual just recently but am awaiting my next bill to see how much it's costing me.

But do any of you think it would be worth changing to a new tarriff? And if so, any suggestions?

Ditch it with a xnet tariff with some cashback you can get better deals and lower monthly costs, have you not asked how much to switch to other tariffs? If they offer you an upgrade you could always sell the phone to cover your costs and keep your old one. Best to check other deals before you ring them and quote them back to them.

i'm a loyal customer to orange (for my sins!) and i recently used martins threatening-to-leave ploy. i managed to get a free nokia 6230i with 500 cross network mins, 500 texts, and free gprs for £25 per month incl vat. how does that compare folks?

That's a very good deal, especially since you got the phone too.

I have a similar deal to which you have with BT Genie/O2 Online where I get 50 Free Off Peak mins everyday to O2 Mobiles, Landlines and 0870/0844/0845/0500/0800 numbers.

I also get unlimited text messages and free wap access.

If I want to call a mobile on a different network I use the DialWise 0844 number so that i'm not charged X Network rates and the call comes from my inclusive mins so long as I call at Off Peak times.

My line rental for this is £8.51 per month plus Vat = £10.00

I had a look at the OneStop website which looks like it has very good cashback deals actually...

So if going with one of the OneStop deals, you could also theoretically get more 'cashback' (assuming you have a phone already), by selling the free phone you get with the package, right?

And Onestop are now part of Carphone warehouse,so should be good for the cashback, also go through 1 of the cashback sites like Rpoints, greaypalm etc to get £10/£15 back also, take a look in the referal section on this site http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=42
