How about tell your local councillor, might not work mind, just a thought
it just infuriates me that this is the government helping people back to work, and what for...... pennies!!!!! i wouldn't mind if i didn't want to work, but i do. i quite enjoy being back in the work force after being able to afford to stay off to look after my children. until my husband couldn't find work so for last few months we've been on ben.
since we opened our floodgates to eastern europe building jobs have become few and far between or they want to pay pittance because thats what they work for.
even people in job centre said their books are full of people in building trade0 -
Hi there
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I am a Benefits Assessor and I see no end of people who complain that its not worth them working. Unfortunately its true. Thanks to the government, it just does not pay to work these days. You should be proud of yourself for not sitting back and accepting the handouts. Nobody will get anywhere by sitting at home. No matter how lowly the job, you have given yourself self-respect and now have got a foot on the ladder and hopefully will be able to climb higher. Good luck.0 -
just checked on entitled to and seems the payments are correct?
i'm mystified, i really am.0 -
How much is the household income per year? You should probably receive more WTC than that!
You will qualify for NHS exemption cards for both of you if you receive any amount of WTC & CTC and the joint household income is less than £15,050 per year.0 -
Why is your husband not capable of looking after the kids?
When he gets a job your household income is likely to double and you can afford to sort out childcare then.0 -

my husband does look after the kids if their off ill. they're all at full time school (which is where i work). i don't need childcare thats why i don't really want to give up my job because as a family where 5 kids are at school 3 of which at the one i work in, it suits us down to the ground. it's perfect0 -
Cut & Pasted from HMRC website. Have you checked with the LEA that your WTC is above the 'Free School Dinner' level?[/quote]
You can only get FSM if you get Child Tax Credit only. If you get WTC as well, you are ineligible.

lucia i agree its all about pride.
too many people are not happy to work for a pittance but until the benefits system is radically overhauled nothing will change.
i believe they should set the benefits level so low that people cant afford to smoke, have cars, satallite dishes, massive flat screen tvs etc. and then people would be inclined to work in order to have the things they wanted. rather than the people on benefits being able to afford them and those that work cant.
my hubby and i have five kids, both work full time and have none of the above (well a beat up old car) but we have pride.
we are both having a really hard time at work at the moment and are tempted to jack it in. we would probably be better off on benefits which is fundamentally wrong.0 -
Hi
Try this link http://www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/ppc_intro.htm for the annual perscription pre payment. You can now pay over 10 months which is £9.87 a month. There is a link to check to see if he is entitled to them free so try that bit first.:j0
