Air conditioning

I know that you're supposed to run the A/C regularly even in the winter to stop the seals drying up, but does anyone know if it's OK to run the A/C with the heater on as well?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

As well as cooling the air aircon also dries it. Using it with heat will keep the car warm and stop windows steaming up.

In wet weather I'd advise using it all the time.
  • I use it all year round for the same reason. Also makes the air in the car nicer...
  • I used it all year round too,now i have a convertible.Still use it in my corsa though and it never steams up as bad as the mx5.

  • It's absolutely fine. Especially this time of year, you will find that having the heater on with the A/C will reduce the condensation inside your car massively.

Can't fault any of the above. Although am guilty of forgetting to run mine as often as should. Its always around March/April time that I forget. Fortunately a/c pump or anything hasn't seized as yet - but then am trading mine in tomorrow. - If I like what i see!:D

Do remember however that keeping your AC on will increase your fuel consumption.

I understood that it increases it by at least 5% - but I stand to be corrected :D

I never realised you had to run your air con regularly - my mechanic told me last year. However, I still forgot and hardly use mine at all, so I guess I'll be giving it a blast tomorrow :D 4 1/2 years old and it still works ok (well, it did last time I used it :D)
