I have no brand loyalty . . . .have worked for many years in the food industry and seen pretty much the same basic ingredients labelled up for many different retailers from 'basics' through to the big brands so I tend to buy the cheapest first, occassionally stuff is better with the addition of a sprinkling of black pepper, a tiny bit of garlic or a little dab of butter to bring out the flavour but in general, I find the basic ranges very good
The only brands I buy regularly are what dh insists on . . . . Yorkshire Tea, Kelloggs Cornflakes and Alta Rica Coffee . . . . .:):heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I'm generally not that fussy, shop in a mixture of places including lidl and aldi and try lots of different things, not just brand names.....but i won't buy cheap chicken/meat/eggs, i don't eat a lot of meat anyway so would rather have good stuff or just go without! (i get laughed at at work if i'm eating meat, get asked if its a happy chicken/pig/etc i'm eating...lol)0

I've decided not to buy Heinz beans anymore as their taste has changed. I now prefer either Aldi beans or Tesco own as they are slightly thicker and sweeter. Things now I wont compromise on are:
Warburton small WM loaf (doesnt get wasted and the smaller slices go down better)
Ocado salad cream (squirty bottle 97p)-tastes better than Heinz!
Heinz Tom soup
Anchor spreadable butter (buy on offer and freeze) They are £1 ATM in Mr M
Yorkshire Teabags (stock up on offer)
FR Eggs (usually £1 for 6 or better deal if possible)
Aldi fruit posh jams-79p (we got 3 free yesterday as they were short dated)
Morrisons cod fishfingers (2 for £3 and 15 in each-nicer than Birdseye and Im fussy!)
Fairy Liquid (buy on offer)
Kenco Smooth instant coffee (OH only drinks fresh, so lasts me ages!)
Ham is TTD when on special

Tea - I have to have Barry's tea (it's a Cork thing! LOL).
And we are also Fairy fans in our house - it really does last so much longer.
Other than that, we'll look at different brands at times and I will make a judgement based on quality as it comes from the packet and taste (of food). Some things we eat the very basic brands, whereas others we are more fussy about. But at the same time, I buy a lot of meat from an old-fashioned butcher, fish from the fishmonger on the pier, and grow a lot of our veggies. If money were an issue, there are things I'd be quicker to drop, but quality and flavour are big issues for us.
Then again, while I do the GC monthly, and do try to keep outgoings low, I am OS more for lifestyle reasons than money dictated needs. So I am happy to spend a reasonable amount of my budget on food etc, and get less food but of higher quality for that budget.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Dairy Milk for me too! Part of my "balanced diet", chocolate in one hand and Diet Coke (not Pepsi) in the other! It's not to cancel each other out really, it is all about the taste!

There are a few things I always stick to although I always try to drop a brand level for the majority of things:-
Fairy washing up liquid
Daz washing power for whites and bedding
Andrex loo roll (for DH)
Colgate toothpaste
'Proper' Coke Zero
Oh, that's just off the top of my head, quite naughty of me really and I won't even mention The Body Shop:o0
