I also wont change my Aveda facial products, although I only have to stock up on them just over once a year.

    1) quality spirits - I've tried the grot vodka/gin and you simply offset the costs by having to buy paracetamol :P

    2) schwepps mixers - a g'n't a g'n't without schwepps tonic.

I probably buy a bottle of gin every couple of months. So why not enjoy it.

    decent tea bags
    colmans mustard
  • Cheap wine. I either buy good stuff, or drink my homemade wine, because I know what's in it!

I also really don't want to give up foreign holidays. I already do all the stuff like out of season last minute self catering deals, but I just get so depressed if I don't have a week of warm weather, sunshine and proper sunsets once a year or so!

:D Compromise? Nothing really. I've cut back in a lot of areas and am very good about finding the cheaper/reduced stuff. I already bulk out much of my mince with soya/beans etc. I'm eating a lot of root veggies and in season stuff and don't appear to have expired.

Giving up? I could become vegetarian so would be OK to give up meat etc.
I could give up most dairy products and am already on brown rice which currently seems cheaper than white rice (as well as having more food value)

I drink tea but that's down to Tesco Red Label. Any lower and I'd give up (unless anyone knows of a nice flavour cheaper tea that isn't made out of dust).

It might just be visiting my mother (she's in Spain) and 70% Chocolate - and that's for entertaining my depressed female friends. If I didn't have that, well...   :D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

We have compromised on loads of stuff to cut down spending a few things I wouldnt compromise on are:

    Andrex Aloe Vera Toilet Rolls
    Flash Floor Wipes
    Free Range Eggs
    Heinz Baked Beans
    Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner
DH wont compromise on his razors MACH 3
    PG Tips
    Lenor
    Fabreeze Air Freshener (cotton)
    Bio Catolet Cat Litter
    Iams or Technical Cat food

But I will buy economy brands in about anything else and long gone are the Organic Veg boxes, Meals Out, Tassimo Coffee Pods, Organic Breads and Pastries, Food from the Windsor Farm Shop, Fresh Flowers, Wine and anything else considered not a necessity.

Hi Daisymac, I notice you mention the Windsor farm shop which must mean you're local to me, I don;t know if you know but there is a new farm shop opened up on the maidenhead road between Windsor and Maidenhead called something like Bray Farm Shop, they sell some really good things in there and are often cheaper than the supermarket, for example the free range eggs are only £1 for 6, i bought half a lamb from them not too long ago too... one to bear in mind?

    - Imperial Leather soap (but then, I use it for everything - no shower gel/shampoo)
    - Sure BO-basher (I did the Pepsi challenge with it*, and it works that much better than the alternative)
    - Brylcreem gel (see above)

As for pretty much everything else, I'm open to negotiation - so long as it works well/tastes good/feels ok on my bum, I'm not too bothered! :)

*NB: when I say "did the Pepsi challenge", I don't mean I drank it. I'd never advocate that. Nor should you, for that matter.....
Oh come on, don't be silly.

    It's the internet
    - it's not real!

Good/well fitted shoes.. especially for the children.. They walk on their feet forever. Mine are from Evans because nothing else fits.. and I sometimes have trouble with them.. I don't fit in their clothes but their shoes are the only ones I can get my feet in just about.

Shoes. Mmmmm. I could never not need new shoes! I have hobbit feet:eek: . size 4eee or 37,24.
Evan shoes are to small. I use Duo Boots & VivaLaDiv.com.- now I can buy size 4 rather than squeezing into size 6 at a push.

If anybody knows any other good ones Im always open to suggestions!.

eggs from happy chickens, so we now have chooks in the garden.

happy meat, it doesn't have to be organic but free range and to know it's history is important. if they're been outside, freely, able to grub about, that's good with me. (obv that applies to chicken!) other meat happy or free range. if we couldn't afford that we'd be veggie. i've today received an order of 6 free range over 1.5kg each chickens which were 4.50 each which was cheaper than supermarket equiv (and i just don't like supermarket meat i like to know it's actual farm)

my husband likes one bubble bath only, radox muscle but at 1.50 a bottle it's fine once a month.

    sensodine or colgate toothpaste.

again with eggs i'll only eat products with free range eggs, so hellmans mayo, no bought cakes, icecream, meringue, quiche, profiteroles etc unless FR
