Squirrels in the loft! Help

Options
Has anyone got any advice on keeping squirrels out of the loft........ We have a problem with them getting in whatever we do. The roof has been re done with cement infills under the tiles. Fascias have all been replaced and we have no idea how they keep getting in year after year. Poison has worked but we are not happy using it as they tend to die out of reach and the place stinks for weeks, then the flies! The blighters are also getting into the cavity walls and decend down the house........... or maybe they are going up! Do the ultrasonic pest deterants work on squirells? Any other ideas welcome. We have searched with the council pest control and a builder for the entries and they still get in.

If they are the Grey type they are classed as vermin, but if the Red one,s they are protected.
Throw some smoke bombs up there, available at Builders Merchants. It will gas them out and also you will be able to see any access holes, with the escaping gas.
You could then stuff the holes with chicken wire,if they are still needed for ventilation.

Yeah but why is it sooooooo funny? Got put off soaps as a kid as mum used to watch crossroads followed by emmerdale coronation st and videoed eastenders..... I think it may have been a ploy to get me to do my homework!

Our neigbour is plagued by squirrels getting into his attic. One thing they always seem to do is gnaw through his burglar alarm cabling which sets it off - which is obviously a major incovenience.

If you do kill them and get hold of them fairly fresh, you could try eating them. Apparently Elvis use to eat them (prior to international stardom) and it didn't do him too much harm. Apparently they taste rather nutty...unsurprisingly.
