I know it's a pain, but would you be willing to post a shopping list/meal plan? It'd be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Binsky,
Was that directed at me?

Keep missing my own threads posts - sorry.
We were doign ok on £100 up until a few weeks back when the prices shot up. At the minute we have added an extra £20 to the shopping so we are now on £120 a month (this now doesnt cover any meat now - bar ham for sandwiches) but i am shopping every 2 weeks now instead of once a month as i find it is better. The extra £20 that ive added tends to mostly cover whoopsies that are found and this seems to be where we are getting most of our meat from - i may buy the odd pack of 800g value mince and tescos frozen sausages if there is no meat available but most of this £20 is spent in the whoopsie section now. We seem to forever have pies/chicken portions/whole chickens/beef/mince/pork joints etc in there
I will make sure to post a revised shopping list at some point

I stumbled across this post from another website.
I can't even spend £100 a month on food etc, and there's just me and the mog!
Still I am determined to try... pay day on Monday, so will have a go this month.
Is it better to shop monthly/fortnightly/weekly/daily in your opinion?
Could be good to help lose weight too as I am on a diet.
Good luck me, and thanks for your inspiriation. Have just spent an hour reading thru your stuff. How do you do it!
Hello there
Welcome to MSE
With sticking to a budget - its like learning a whole new way of thinking, i am pretty new and still learning loads.
I started by making a list of the food in the freezer and taping it to the side so i know what i have without having to trawl through
Then did the same for the cupboards.
The first month - keep all the reciepts - even when you pop out for a pint of milk - and use that to work out what you normally spend
Then each month try to drop it by a small amount - see my tagline - i am down by £10 this month - sign up to the shopping.grocery challenge, it helps.
The last tip - is to be organised - defrost what you will eat tomorrow this evening, work out what you will eat - and stick to it.
Once you know what you have and what you usually spend - its easier to cut down
Good luck

lettuce, some tomatoes that had gone a bit mouldy and some carrots that had gone mushy.
Hello there
Check out - the love food/hate waste web site - lots of ideas for using up leftovers.
1. could the casserole veg, green beans be blanched and frozen?
2. could you make a pie with the left over chicken?
3. could the pork loin be used in a meal today - sweet and sour pork for example
4. do the yogurts appear to smell, and appear to be "off" - are they still edible
5. can you eat the ham in a sarnie today? or could it be added to an omlette or HM quiche
Not trying to interfere - but i am sure you could do something with this food without chucking it out

Sammy Kaye,
Would be intersting if you have time to see how your shopping list nowadays compares to that in the original Post.
TIAMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
