BTW, techno_saver, just wondering where you've seen 'complete printed fakes'? I am not sure what you mean?
I have used internet coupons so many times that I have more than once had Till Supervisors try to reject a coupon 'because it's a photocopy'. If you are guilty of having said that to a customer then please reconsider, it's very UNLIKELY to be a photocopy if it's an internet coupon.
Why photocopy a printable coupon when they are either:
a) freely printable in multiples anyway or
b) not freely printable (e.g. Couponnet restrict each pc to 2 prints of each coupon) but include an ID code - to identify any pc originating unauthorised multiples - at the coupon-clearing house.
Or have you seen photocopies of normal coupons (I never have, they would look so fake)?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No offence taken my friend,
I think coupon mad has said all the things I would have said in reply to you techno.
In addition, I do not do anything against tescos rules that their head office told me. All the coupons I use are legitimate/indate/originals.
There are simply hundreds of them out there, its just a case of finding them.
It may seem extreme with the totals I quoted but I really am not breaking any laws/policies etc, my wife also shops with coupons, we go about 10 times a week to tesco in total and have been since July.
I know there will be a lot of people that will regularly use coupons specific for somerfield for example or out of date. Tesco cannot get their money back for these and if a particular store gets too many then they clamp down and we all lose. They will generally accept those "spend and save" ones you get from sainsburys though.
Every voucher I use I know tesco will get their money back from and in many cases a 2p handling fee on top.
In the case of a heinz coupon being redeemed against a baxters soup, I have been told by tesco HO that in their view for everyone who redeems that coupon, there will be plenty of other shoppers who will have bought that heinz soup without using a coupon so it will more than balance up.
They may not get much of my cash for groceries but I buy petrol from them on the way out and have a tesco credit card so they still get money from me that I would otherwise spend elsewhere.
And at the end of the day I dont force the SA to take them, and on the odd occasion a supervisor is called they just ok it. They may reject a particular coupon and I accept that.
As coupon mad said, I never use the self scan tills, they terrify me! and definately would not advocate putting blank paper in the slot, this would be theft/deception and someone doing it would deserve all they got.
At the end of the day couponing is a perk not a right, they dont have to legally accept them from me but they do, they may well change the policy next week and thats fine but for now I think I would be stupid not to personally.0 -
Agree entirely with the above 2 posters. However I do use both Self Scan and Tills. But I wouldn't do anything with the Self Scans that I wouldn't do with the normal tills.
As you get used to it so do the staff get used to you. Today for instance I got a smile along with 'more coke...........'. Have a bit of humour and be polite and you will get far.
Regards

I think that Techno-Saver is right in that someone is losing out somewhere. It would be the manufacturers that would be losing out as they are giving the money back to the supermarkets.
I think the problem is between them and the supermarkets. If the supermarkets are happy to accept vouchers when we haven't bought the products, then why shouldn't us customers take advantage of this.
I think the amount of money all these people are making out of us, the odd £2 here or there can't do much harm to their profits - obviously, or they would stop doing it!
Always good to hear other opinions though Techno-Saver!0 -
well one thing i will say about the coke coupons for the 4 pack of the green tea/orange anti oxi things
is that they haven't sold well and therefore if you check the dates they do not have huge shelf lifes, IMHO this was coca-colas way of shifting the stock as boots were giving this away the month before with a coupon in there magazine, no limit to how many were given to one customer - so who is losing out?? Stores are clearing the stock and coca cola are getting rid of an unsellable product(i don't mind the orange one the green one is foul)coupon over here, coupon over there, every crack filled with coupons even down there(meaning under the buggy lol):D0 -
The cost to buy a product surely almost always exceeds the amount that it cost to make.
The companies wouldn't make the coupons if they were losing out too much... supermarkets wouldn't accept them if they were losing out too much.
Use your coupons, get a few pence knocked off your bill0 -

I am just about to move to Canada and have been reading up on living there. In a book I got there was a section on shopping and the second hand market. It also said that the prices in the supermarkets genarally take into account the value of the coupons, so not using the coupons mean that you are actually spending too much. Couponing seems to be a way of life for canadian shoppers (so the book says), they have been through a couple of recessions so know how to save money - maybe we can learn from them. It is not stealing using the coupons, it is just getting the best value for money and watching the news at the moment it is about time we all started to do this.
As an aside - I have far too much coke in my cupboard!! But for the addditional 50p each time it was worth it as my children had their packed lunches for free that week. Stealing or sensible use of coupons??0 -
I only discovered the coupon forum last week, I printed one lot of coupons from coupon net and have slightly nervously started using them on the tesco self scan tills. As Tesco is only round the corner from me I go in about 5 days a week so because I don't buy loads I usually go to the self scan. Its taken all of the coupon net coupons so far but have started with the ones that go out of date first so haven't got to the bigger nicorette ones! I have decided to stick to 2 coupons at a time (eg yesterday got £1 (2 x 50p) off a £5 shop so I was very happy with that) as when I scanned a 3rd one the other day it said I needed approval (although it was probably more to do with the percentage of the shop rather than the fact it was 3 coupons).
Good luck to those who get most of their shopping paid for with coupons, I just don't have the balls!0
