Vouchers at Tesco - an exercise in frustration!!

sorry, it wasn't me :-(
my tesco doesn't have a self scan, and they'll only take one of each voucher type, to a max of 10% off the bill (but some people say 20%, depends on the till assistant) and some say only 6 coupons max too. still, a ten percent saving is ten percent, it's great, nobody used to take coupons like this a few years ago so i see it all as a bonus :-)52% tight0 -

Ok. I'll cancel the public flogging!

It is just very frustrating when stores change their policy. The staff make me feel really embarrassed and people behind stare and tut as though you are trying to take money out of their purse!
They really shouldn't impose a limit on vouchers when you have actually brought the product. If, for instance, you'd got a £5 voucher from a company for complaining, that policy would mean that you had to spend over £50 to use it!
I'd quite happily accept a blanket policy change if all stores refused to accept coupons for products that you haven't bought. I just wish they could be consistent so I wasn't made to feel like a bankrobber when I try to do my shopping!0 -
I've just subscribed to that Zing magazine for all my lovely coupons, but now it seems that they aren't accepting them unless I get the actual product. Darn!!
One other point, slightly off the subject: The last three times I've been into Tesco's, they've given me vouchers with my till receipt. Among these have been three x £6 off my shopping when I spend over £30. Great!
I never used to get these but I was wondering if it was because I've changed my style of shopping. Always used to do one big shop a week, but now do lots of little bits to get the bargains, then a medium sized one (about £35) every week. Maybe they can see me buying little bits and want to entice me to do more shopping??0 -
Jellyhead, I know it wasn't you! It just frustrates me - I'm all for using the system to save money but not to the point where other people can't too! Jo_b, I had no problems at Meir instead - the cashier was happy to take lots of coupons although I did pick a lacksidasical looking chap (spelling??!) and their customer services was really friendly there compared to Longton - shame as Longton have a superb range and I often get extra clubcard offers printed out with my till reciepts.
2nd to last time I went, I had Nestle vouchers to use off of my cereal and the customer services supervisor woudl STILL only take 10% of the bill including these - she didn't even understand my logic when I said that I could within manufacturer guidlines just purchase the cereal and pay for it all with their vouchers as they were replacing a faulty packet of cereal. BAH!0 -
I'm frustrated with them now, went today to Tesco's as i had one of the £2.40 off eve magazine vouchers to use up, scanned it at the self scan and it only took £1 off my shopping bill, i didn't say anything as i have used alot of coupons lately and they have all gone through ok, but i am feeling a little peeved as i bought more than i needed to raise the total shopping spend0

Today I try to hand over the *one* single coupon and am told by both the SA and the supervisor he calls over to verify, that as of a couple of weeks ago they're not accepting any coupons for items not purchased.
Had a grumble about them not being consistent, so nobody knew where they stood, also mentioned that Asda up the road will consistently take 10% but all this seemed to fall on deaf ears.
This is Cambridge Newmarket Road branch...if anyone else feels like boycotting it :rotfl:0 -
What a sad day. My local Tesco Extra has removed ALL of its self-scan tills. I'm beside myself with sadness. Have lots of lovely coupons saved up but with all the difficulties everyone seems to be experiencing I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try at the normal tills... Anyone know if you can find out online which stores still have self-scan tills?0

I tried to use some vouchers yesterday, but after 2 had scanned, the guy said "sorry, can't take more than 10% off the bill. But later that day I went back to the same guy with more shoppnig and handed over £7 in vouchers and halved my shopping bill!
This "minimum spend" is only enforced by the staff - the machines will scan whatever they want! Also they;d better not be stopping this as I have a few Joey coupons to use.0
