Two have even been nominated in the top 10 beaches of the world - Barafundle and Whitesands - and they are truly stunning.
Accommodation around here is pretty reasonable and there are LOADS of outdoor activities; diving, coasteering, kayaking, climbing, dolphin watching, sailing and of course just walking - we're the only coastal National Park in Britain.
Tempted yet?
Ooh I love Barafundle Bay, its like being in the mediterranean on a sunny day :T0 -

I have to agree, these are both absolutely superb choices. There are a heap of others around Pembs too. Mwnt is superb. Also Freshwater East, Broadhaven, Marloes Sands, Dale. Heck I could probably list dozens!
A lot of people aren't keen on Tenby but if you want to be close to a town then I don't think you can go far wrong. There's probably more to do than in other areas. And actually Tenby's South Beach is at least as good as most others, if not better.0 -
I'm biased...
:D:D I live in Poole, and Sandbanks is lovely in the summer. The locals go somewhere in the middle between Poole and Bournemouth beaches where it's not so busy.
There are numerous campsites locally, Rockley Park has a large static caravan park, Sandy Balls in the New Forest as well as camping and caravanning sites around the Studland peninsula.
Stonehenge is nearby, Corfe castle, Poole old town, Bath and Winchester within easy drive.
Hope you find somewhere that gives you a holiday to remember!!!!

I know it's miles away, but Northumberland has some beautiful beaches. My favourite is Ross beach.
It's inbetween Bamburgh and the causeway over to Lindisfarne. You have to park up in the hamlet of Ross, then walk about a mile over farmland and sand dunes to get to the beach. Due to the walk, hardly anyone goes there so you often have the whole beach to yourself
Here's some more information on the beaches:

I thought I'd mention it in case you fancy planning any trips further afield. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I don't think you'll find any good beaches "near to London".
Generally, the further west you go, the better the beaches. I'm biased, of course, as I grew up in Cornwall, but there are some fantastic spots in Cornwall/Devon/Dorset, and as already mentioned, parts of west Wales too. Alternatively, you could go the other way and head for the beaches of East Anglia. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
