Leaving AOL?

Hi

I have been with AOL for many years now and now really think it is a waste of money with them cause all i really use it for is email and connection which any other company can offer.

I am paying £30+ for 2mb connection

Sometimes its alot higher due to the txt service they offer ( addictive ) and they just charge it to your account end of the month

what am looking for is just a basic company that is good and realiable and only looking for about 1mb connection and can offer direct debt aswell. Also would be good if can get a package that offers a phone line deal aswell as long to re-activate the line so can use landline again

any ideas would be good

thanks

Hi - I've recently switched fromBT to madasafish - cost is 17.99 per month for 2.2meg speed, with 4 months free if you have your own modem which I presume you do. The switch was very easy and went well. The only catch is usage is capped at 5meg, but unless you are a heavy downloader that should be plenty( I was paying BT 29.99 per month for 1meg connection)

Many companies such as wannadoo, onetel and toucan do bundled phone and broadbrand and are worth checking out - wannadoo is currently 17.99 for wireless broadband with 6 months free evening and weekend calls, ( worth approx 3.99 per month)

They all seem to be raving about https://www.e7even.co.uk at £10 a month if you pay upfront for two years or a one year contract.

    Fairmorn.
I would advise that you go to www.adsl.org and read about all the ISPs there. I could heartily recommend metronet where the tech. support is 2nd to none. They even contact members from home and nothing is too much trouble. They are VERY reasonably priced too. Read about them on the above forum.

When you change broadband providers, most will give you a migration code. I gave this to my new ISP and 5 days later was unable to connect to my old company, and then simply logged into new provider. I also had a couple of weeks overlap so that I could still collect emails using old email address as well as new one.

I think AOL recently changed their T&C and removed free support number, and its changes their terms and conditions. You should be albe to cancel your contract.
