Hi there, I should be able to make it with my Son & daughter (4 & 6 )

I've been there before when my Son was at preschool & it was a good day out, quite a bit of walking for the very little ones, but lots of things to climb on in-between, so doesn't seem so far!!
How are we going to know we are mser's are we going to have a bottle of stardrops with us:rotfl:
I'd love to meet some like minded people, feel a bit of a "freak" around here with my money saving ideas!!
So how many are coming now?? can we make a list??Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Mortgage Total: £49,992/ £75,000
2026 Mortgage Overpayments Pot £5790 -
Great:D thanks for doing that benbenandme, don't forget you really don't have to have kids to go there as it is a lovely walk/s you only have to pay for parking - no entrance fee, of course if you want to go on the little train ( i might do this as last time we couldn't get on as we wouldn't have been back in time for the coach! ) that will cost a little bit, but even including that just over a tenner for a nice healthy day out for 3 of us.Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I've been there quite a few times before. My ds1 and dd1 live in North Dorset so it's about an hour from there and we went one summer when it was baking hot, too hot really. If the weather next Saturday is like it was yesterday, we're in for a treat.
As for identifying ourselves, that's a good point. Who's going to be brave enough to go up to total strangers in the car park and say "Are you kizzykizzywizzy?" That sort of behaviour will most likely get you locked up for starters.....:rotfl: Maybe we'll be easy to spot as we'll be the ones pushing our cars into the car park to save money... :rolleyes:0 -
Well, benben offered to pick me up from the train station (?that still okay, benben?) so thats a start.... it might get down to colours of jackets, or emailing pix of one another! Or meeting at a particular point, tho that could be hard with little ones in tow.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Yep thats still fine KC !! I have already met Tigz so I will recognise her, but I reckon it will be easiest if we arrange a meeting-point ... how about just inside the visitor centre entrance ?? This is the bit where the toilets are and the restaurant is
We need to decide a time too ....
For anyone reading and wondering about moors valley, heres the link: www.moors-valley.co.uk/default.asp ... hope that works as I haven't done it before

It will take me about an hour to get there, just let me know what time is best for everyone & I'll meet you there then, if I'm early there are 2 play parks ( one for little ones & one for the more daring )next to each other down the concrete path near the train track & i'll just kill time there until the meeting time.Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't back out
Just been checking the national rail site, and the first train I can really make (because I get back home so late, 11pm, from work) is the 0843, which doesn't get in to Bournemouth till 1120. On its own, that *might* be all right, depending on what you guys have planned, but then it goes on to say:
"The following incidents may affect this journey"
Engineering work between Wimbledon and WokingSouth West Trains services between Wimbledon and Woking are subject to retiming and journey times will be extended to up to 45 Minutes Engineering work between Wimbledon and WokingSouth West Trains services between London Waterloo and Salisbury will not operate. London Waterloo to Haslemere services will start at Woking. The .12 minutes past the hour services between London Waterloo and Basingstoke will call additionally at Wimbledon and West Byfleet. London Waterloo to Woking services will not operate
It *sounds* like they're saying that their timetables aren't to be trusted. I use that website frequently, and its not the same as when tubes are delayed - then, the tubes keep the same frequency, so it makes no practical difference to travellers. I went to Bournemouth for a short break last year, and a delay added 2 hours to the jouney. Not good for a day trip! I think I better back out, folks, sorry....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
That's a shame!! but it's supposed to be a "Fun" day out & the trains do not sound "Fun" at all.
I'm sure there will be another time:DComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner
