Money Saving gone TOO far?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Great! Love all those posts.
My cupboards are heaving with food and I also have to empty half a shelf to find anything! (going to sort the whole larder out today though)
Taking pics of my HM jams/cakes/bread etc and putting them on FB as I am also disproportionately proud of my achievements and everyone should know about it(I even took a picture of a pasta bake and put that on there
)
Posting on FB about my foraging experiences (even tho I didn't actually get around to making the rosehip syrup before they rotted)
I also love the whoopsie race!!! Even better when a staff member is there with the label gun reducing them further... Very difficult not to snatch before she puts a particularly pleasing find back on the shelf :rotfl:0 -
We are supposed to feel grateful if things are reduced BY 10 or 20p, never mind TO!
Yes i`ve got to agree with that! We used to get decent whoopies a while ago but now as more and more people seem to be shopping later to take advantage the supermarkets around here seem to have stopped all the decent ones.
Most of the time now it works out cheaper for us to shop around and buy on offer.
Sometimes when an offer item is reduced it works out cheaper to buy the offer and get more than one item with a long date on than a single reduced one. I have noticed that sometimes things with the same dates on are on both the whoopsied shelves and the normal ones so it does pay to double check if you have a supermarket that does this.
I think that they may be doing this so that the offer doesn`t kick in at the till if you buy an item that is both reduced and on offer.
Crafty arn`t they!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
When you take the drawers out of the freezer to rearrange them so you can get the 6 pies in that you've just made, and find there's still a corner spare so pop down to the shop just to look at the whoopsied shelves. Did this this morning and filled that corner with 4 leg of lamb steaks ys to £1.95 for all four!!! I could never afford them full price0

I bought tins that won`t fit into the huge tin cupboard as all shelves are full and stacked so high that the drawer at the top won`t open as the bottom catches them, my larder cupboard which isn`t even properly finished is so full thati can`t find anything when i need it without emptying at least half a shelf
The spare bedroom is a cat food, dogfood and anything else that won`t fit into the kitchen overspill and that is getting a bit out of control too, the additional under bed lidded storage box is already full of emergency vac packed packs of flour and yeast and cartons of UHT milk (this was a godsend last year so started early this time) the shed is full of loo rolls and i`m struggling for more space.

How I howled with laughter at this. This morning I got back from Saisburys with even more bargains. I bought four bottles of the Fairy non Bio washing liquid, the garage is heaving with three huge 80 wash boxes of powder, eight bottles of fabric conditioner, tins of tomatoes (chopped and plum), baked beans, Ambrosia Rice Puddings and Custards, Heinz soup offers, dog food tins, dried sacks of dog food and three huge goodness knows how many litres bottles of screen wash. I fell over back onto the bonnet of the car after stepping on tins of soup which I had forgot I had (I bought more today :rotfl:but DH in the winter will have a sandwich and a tin of soup together in one go and sometimes take them into work as well). I have sorted out the kitchen cupboards and brought a load through into the house, once I got the old stocks to the front to use up first.
I have now drawn a hefty line under anything cleaning, laundry or tinned soupified! Yes we will use it, but if I bring any more in I am going to get seriously questioned by DH as to my true motives about this "winter prepping lark". I can only hide so much although now we have pressed on towards the end of this month even he is getting cracking on the final bits!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

If you had to name one thing that you have read on here that you consider to be a step too far in money saving / old style living, what would it be?
One thing only...0 -
I wouldn't eat offal (except liver in pate). For me, heart/brains/kidneys is a big no no _pale_0

Reusing tea bags is a step to far for me, I love strong tea. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I agree with newlywed xSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0
