  • Like many other people I always just cut mould off the cheese and keep quiet, except yesterday whilst choping the cheese my BF starting nibbling at the mouldy slices instead! Oops, still didn't say anything and he never noticed. Serves him right for nibbling before his dinner!

Same with potatoes, I just chop the green bit off or if it's starting sprouting i'll just cut them off too. Once they're mashed or roasted nobody knows. To my knowledge nobody has died because i've givin them a dodgy potato :D

I'm the same with heating, i'd rather snuggle with a blanket than put on the heating. i've been known to wear gloves in the house (mild Raynauds) cos I don't see the point of heating the whole house to warm up my fingers. I think during our time together I have probably worn all of the BF's big jumpers. and sometimes that's on top of two of my own jumpers.

I'm sure he'll thank me for it one day. After all we are moving into our first home together next week, don't want him to have a heart attack when he sees the fuels bills! ;)

Have never recycled wrapping paper tho, might give it a try this Christmas, although once i've tried wrapping awkward shaped presents and wrapped it completly in sellotape, there is not much that can be recycled! But I do chop up Christmas cards to use for making Christmas cards the follwing year, and also for gift tags.

We used to do this for the school Christmas Fayre. Cut out useable-sized pictures, with pinking shears if possible. Punch a small hole in the side or corner and thread with a length of red/gree/gold embroidery thread. Package about 20 of them together and wrap neatly with clingfilm - 10p a pack. At the end of the Fayre kids were always looking for something to spend their last 10p's on :D.

A local store recently reopened after major hygiene problems (rats). Beforehand, they used to let me have free unwrapped fruit/veg and free (uncovered) butcher counter items! Would you ever feel the same about getting any free stuff from here?

Probably yes! Everything may have been fine and you don't say that you've been ill from it but I'd be careful.
  • I'd probably keep with the fruit and veg but lose the meat...at least you can wash fruit etc thoroughly. jsut my instinct though.

No - I'd never take anything from them again.

I would like to know who closed it down? I think there's a big difference between a shop finding it has a rat problem and closing down to fix it and a shop ignoring a rat problem until the authorities close it down.
  • Presumably the shop being open again means that the problem is fixed? If so, I can't see the problem.

I would, you cook/wash it all anyway, there would have been animals on/near the produce while it was growing and if they re opened it's probably been dealt with.
