Bleeding gum...

            Hi
The problems i have had with my Gums.
I am unable to brush my teeth enough to allow me to keep them clean, so i get tarter building up.
I have been to Hygenists that tell me i am not brushing correctly, the problem i have is that if i brush my teeth for any length of time my over a period of a few days i can watch my gums dissapear, they literally seem to rub away.
I have managed but i always feel i have bad breath.
Recently i had gum seperation on one side of a tooth at the back bottom, this was very painfull, i went to the dentist and she scraped it and the other end of the tooth, i went home with twice the pain, after 3 days of agony, i went back, she scapped the tooth next to it and i went away with 3 times the pain.
I wasnt sleeping, i felt like hitting the wall to take some pain away, eventually i went to the chemist to see what they had, i tried Cordosyl, and within 12 hours, i had fresh breath first time in 20 years, and the difference was amazing, the scrapped ares of gum heald within a day or so.
The problem is i havnt cured the Candida and when i dont take the Corsodyl even for 1 day the bad gums, smelly breath and white goo comes back.
My dentist has told me to try Eludril which has the same ingrediant but doesnt stain the Teeth, it is working but not as well as the corsodyl, but i have to mix this Eludril with water and it maybe i am not making it strong enough.
Peter
PS my Dentist has told me she has not know of anyone with Candida with gum problems, LOL why dont Doctors recognize this thing.
The good news is i read a paper about reasearch into why so many people are dying of routine operations and dying before they recover, it looks like it maybe in some part due to Candida, and is much more widespread than people realize.0 -
I'm sorry Peter, but these symptoms are not caused by candida.
I'm glad you seem to get some relief with corsodyl, but you need to look elsewhere for the cause. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
            Hi Toothsmith
are you refering to my gum problems or all of my symptoms, do you have any inclination as to what is causing this.
And secondly, why would the manufacturer of Cosodyl make a mouthwash to treat Candida id dentists dont encounter Candida related problems.
Any guidance or help is appreiated, i just get the feeling i'm going to go to the doctor and go through all the months of test i went through before and get told to take Vitamins.
I could be wrong i suppose 20 years hopefully tests have improved, HIV was 1 of the tests 20 years.

If you have oral candida you might ask about daktarin oral gel.0

            Hi Lorian
Thats interesting, i use Daktarin for athletes foot, didnt realize they do an oral gel, could be intersting to see if it does any good, to help prove one way or other

I went for an alternative type of treatment where I was tested for food allergies. The great thing was the lady who saw me used to be a chemist! I found out I was allergic to certain things and one of her recommendations was to get the overgrowth of yeast out of my system.
This meant no sugar, soda bread instead of ordinary bread, no gravy etc. (This was going back some years mind you and I remember the name of the place if anyone is interested, and I didn't keep the sheet of food that I'm allergic to.) Actually it wasn't just food allergies but also tested for things like we use around the home.
When I went on the no sugar diet I had terrible stomach cramps that lasted a week and eventually went away. The 'chemist' told me that this would happen as it was the body's way of ridding itself of the candida. Unfortunately I have a sweet tooth and the no sugar thing was hard to stick to after a while, though years on I have still managed to stick with tea and no sugar. (I used to have 3 teaspoonfuls of the stuff in my tea!)
Peter, if you aren't happy with the conventional route you can always try the alternative one. Infact some GPs have started to come round to the idea of working alongside unconventional methods. My old surgery used to have acupuncture as one of the therapies offered although I was never referred for such treatment. It's worth looking around and finding out what is available.
Just to add if you have an overgrowth of candida you need to treat the problem from the inside, applying creams and such will only give you temporary relief.0 -
Hi, you really need to see your gp or dentist, im sure people aren't supposed to be diagnosing illnesses etc on here...... Offering a bit of advice is great, but dont go believing everything you read on online medical sites-most of them dont tell you the truth/real facts making a lot of people worry over nothing or making them believe they have something wrong when it may not be the case.
Your gp should be able to see if it is candida in your mouth, surely there's tests like for example thrush/candida in more intimate areas.
Good luck, i hope you get it all sorted out quickly.

            Hi BallandChain
Yes i have looked at the diet and am gearing myself up for this, it is prety bland, infact to start you cut out just about everything LOL, but you are allowed to eat Garlic ,Onions, Peppers and Ginger
Not allowed anything that fungus likes, sugars, mushrooms, processed foods, Vinegar, alcohol the list goes on.
One thing i read was Thyme and rosemary , i tried these raw and they seemed to relief some of my symptoms, the other thing is to take strong probiotics for a few weeks,, and as you progress on the diet you should get a candida dieoff which makes your symptoms worse to start off with, but hopefully the good bacteria take back over, and with time you gradually introduce more things to your diet.
I also like sugar but switched to sweetners as my gums could no longer tolerate having sugar in my tea.
I am glad you cured this, i have only recently realized this could be whats causing my problems and am still working on the best way to proceed, the diet is top of the list, but i though maybe i should give the doctor the first call.

            Hi Keelykat
Yes i totaly agree, just dont have much faith at the moment with Doctors from past expereince.0 -
Oh yes I nearly forgot along with the no sugar diet you take acidophilus available at Holland and Barrett and that introduces the friendly bacteria into your system. It's good for anyone who has suffered with upset stomachs. It's much better than those yakult or actimel drinks as the bacteria (good) is concentrated.
Just for the record I am not a qualified doctor and people should get advice from their GP first. I only speak from my own experience and hope my experience can be of help to others.0
