Bleeding gum...

I felt something between my tooth today and dislodged it, only to find it was a blood clot. (Bleh) It was tucked in between two teeth about halfway back, on the outside. It carried on bleeding (I hadn't realised it was until the clot) and now has built up another clot (double bleh)
Obviously it's going to get dislodged again when I eat. Should I worry?
BTW, went for a hygienist visit late last year... dentist says my gums aren't great but it's not yet gum disease. I bought myself an electric toothbrush last week. AFAIK I didn't knock my mouth or do anything obvious to start the bleeding.

It really is important you get to see your dentist or you will find whatever the problem is can only get worse.
I have regular appointments with my hygienist and I am so glad I do. You don't want to end up losing your teeth. Make it a priority to ring the dentist asap as you will only be storing up more problems for the future.
Sorry I can't help any more as only a professional can tell you what the problem is.0 -
I would get it checked out, but the most common cause for a tooth suddenly becoming excessively bleedy is that something has got a bit stuck.
Really good cleaning of that area over the next few days and a few salty mouthwashes wooshed well into and around it might just clear things up, but best to get it checked out anyway. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Hi
I have had problems with my Gums for nearly 20 years, just recently found out i have Candida Overgrowth, i found this out by a simple test, if you spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning and you see threads dangling down it's a sign you have Candida Overgrowth.
I found all this out because of a mouth wash i tried and it made my gums much better and this stuff is amazing and available over the counter it is called Corsodyl, It also comes as a tube of Gel you can push into problem places, you can also use this as tooth paste.
The down side is you need to be carefull drinking tea near the time you are going to use it ,as it can stain your teeth sometimes, i have not had this problem.

Hi Peter, I've just started using Corsodyl due to gum problems, just wondered how long it was before you noticed a difference with your gums and what kind of problems were you having previously?

Corsodyl is £3.35 at Tescos, Wilkinsons do a version (same active ingredient -
Chlorhexidine Gluconate) at £1.99 http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0202687

Where did you get this from?
I'm not saying it's wrong - yet, but I've never heard of it. Saliva has lots of protien in it anyway, and I suspect that tthis would form threads in virtually every case. Especially first thng in the morning when you will have a mouthful of the thicker, more mucousy type of saliva.
Corsodyl is a very good mouthwash for specific things for short periods. It does stain the teeth, and not just if you have tea afterwards. Chlorhexidine (the active ingredient) will stain by itself.
This stain is easily removed though.
If you really do have a fungal problem, firstly there are more effective treatments, but, more importantly, you have to find out WHY you have it.
Fit healthy people do not get fungal overgrowths. If you do have one, you need to find out the underlying cause. This could be something as simple as a recent course of antibiotics, in which case it should quickly go away by itself.
There can be more complex causes though, and it's important to get checked out to find out what these or this might be. Don't just treat the symptoms.
I'm pretty sure though, that if you've only based it on stringy stuff in the saliva, you've not much to worry about. How to find a dentist.

Hi
The Cordosyl worked within 12 Hours, i felt a remarkable difference in my mouth.
I have only just put 1 & 1 together to work out i have Candida Overgrowth, i have a long list of assoicated problems that no Doctor has ever been able to find reasons for.
It all started about 20 years ago, i got a Kidney infection and was off work for 3 months and given a long course of anti biotics, at the end of this my gums started to feel like they were burning sometimes.
I went to the dentist but they couldnt find any problems, just has the usual clean.
Soon after i started getting survere tonsillitis, where i would get white growths down my throat, so i would goto the doctors, they would give me AntiBiotics, but they would never fully clear the sore throats and they would come back.
This went on for 2 years, i was refered to the hospital but they decided not to take out my tonsills.
Meantime i had other simptoms , i felt weak and tired, my leggs and joints ached, i went to the Doctors, he ran loads of test's to try and find the reasons for all these simptoms, i was told there was not anything wrong with me, he gave me a high power course of Vitamins LOL.
After this i gave up going to the doctor for sore throats, i would gargle with Aspirin and use Stepil antibacterial lozengers, these work to a degree, but at least enabled me to work like this.
Now we are 20 years on, i have been to the doctors very little really, but will go again soon to see if they can do anything.
Further symptoms.
Sweats, i am always hotter than my Mrs, if i eat sugar my gums feel like they are crawling with insects.
If i eat Chocolate i break out in sweats.
If i get cold i sweat.
my joints ache.this changes day by day, sometimes almost no ache.
I always feel slightly tired
I do not sleep well because i feel hot.
I get Athletes foot all the time despite using creams regularly, also in the groin area as well as feet
Bad wind
Stomach pains
Sometimes fast pulse.
I have had these symptoms for ages and they dont seem to get worse, but vary from day to day.
From what i have read on the internet, Doctors do not recognize Candida Overgrowth as we all have it to a degree anyway.
It appears that when the good Bacteria in out Stomach get killed off due to anti biotics, it may be possible for Candid to take hold and alter the envoirement to suit itself so it can flourish, it spread in the blood system spreading spores, which establish themself, when you eat food the sugars get eaten by it, it is a yeast.
I have read that roots can form in joints and the stomach and intestin.
I am not saying that the above is correct, i have not been diagnosed by a professional, it just all makes sense, and it was triggered by the fact that Corsodyl worked so well, and on the bottle it says it treat Candida, it was this that started me into looking at this.
The way i see it is that the white growths on my tonsills were probably fungus not Bacterial in nature, yet out of all those visits they were never tested, i was just given antibiotics and sent away.
My tongue get a whitish layer on it, and i get a white slime over my Gums.
Well i hope i havnt put anyone off there dinner
We will see what the doctor says in the next week
Thanks
Peter0
