Hello
My question is,my mother has offered to give me a decent amount of money to put in my new coop account or my prepaid mastercard account,so it covers my new direct debits and bills, which i fell behind on while i had no account....So do you think the OR keep a check on the new bank accounts or the prepaid credit cards?
thanks kind people your help is appreciated :A

Hi Casey
I don't think they are really interested in day to day running of basic bank accounts. We have our accounts to run our income and expenditure, to receive money into them and subsequently pay it back out again to pay our way.
I wouldn't worry, short of a big lottery win or substantial inheritance, you are okay

Would you think it would be safe to have maybe a £1000 in both accounts?0

Hiya
As you say in your post, the money will be used to pay for DDs and bring you up to date with missed payments. I can't see there being a problem, you will have proof of payments for bills in statements etc if they were to ask - which, by the way, I would be extremely surprised if they did. If you have already provided your I&E, they generally leave you alone to see out the rest of your BR.

so no alarm bells ring in the os office saying this guys got some money in the bank all of a sudden
thanks x0 -
I seriously doubt it, you have to live - alarm bells might start if you have a good few grand in there though

do you think the os would accept a letter from my mum saying shes`s lent me 2 or 3 grand lol0

They don't need to know what your mum has "donated" to you Casey. Maybe it would be better to put the cash in in installments rather than put in lump sums ??

Sorry for sounding off but this does not ring true. Debts at the time of b/c are included so why would you need 2-3 Grand to help pay them. Would this money not have been more useful in helping you avoid b/c. Sorry if that sounds harsh but b/c with or without this forum is by no means enjoyable.DalipFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
