Going back to when I had my 1st accident in 1998, I got hit on the side and it damaged the bumper, I had to have a dent knocked out in side panel, part respray and new bumper, with fitting,, vat etc that was about £400.
I had to get 3 quotes as it was an insurance claim,xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Pewpews correct though, for anyones info provided the quote is reasonable any authurised repairer can be used. I think this is what you were trying to make clear, ie,reasonable yeah?
Don't get messed up with the curtesy car thing, that is only provided by your own insurer for you. If he doesn't have this on his plicy, or if he doesn't go through his insurers, he doesn't get. The claim would end up being paid by his insurer who would then claim back if your insurer admitted liability for you.
HTH.
To be honest if you have a good record, £600 damage isn't an awful lot, seems about right, I'd let the insurance sort it out, save yourself the hassle. Just ask for the photographs as no one likes being mad a fool of, and he just could have welted it with a hammer to ensure the scratch on the otherside of the bumper gets done at the same time;)It happens.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

oh i see what you mean! yes i am happy to go wherever as long as its reasonable!

Yes i have an outstanding record, except from this very minor hicup of taking out this car!;) so i think possibly i will just go through insurance, as i dont do heated fights etc, i like the easy life! will def get some pics like you say and ask for the 2 extra quotes first just to be sure and if it all gets expensive and difficult i will call in the insurers and be done with it!0 -
I dont mean to be blunt - but you need to inform your insurnace company now, not when it gets to difficult or expensive as the 1st question that comes to mind is have you got something to hide?xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

i have already spoken to them as i wanted to know if i would lose my no claims etc and whether it was worth claiming as i have to pay the first £350 regardless so i assume they are aware of the incident as they did ask me details of what happened etc, but i have told them at that moment in time i didnt want to proceed with claim as was hoping to do it between us.0 -
Did the other car driver apologise for parking over your driveway?
I would put up a sign at the end of the driveway saying "I do not take responsibilty for any damage caused to a car that obstructs my driveway". Not legal but might make them think twice.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

No he didnt say anything that what makes me madder!:p he didn't really say anything!didn't seem bothered that i had hit it. when i said did he realise he was on my drive that was the first time he seemed to even realise he was actually parked dodgily!0 -
well that was weird! i have finally got hold of the driver whose car i hitt and he has been very helpful. will send some pictures and some more quotes. he seemes as shocked as i was regarding the first quote (he says he didn't even see it?company just sent it.)he thinks that rather a lot for very small amunt of damage. so well we will wait and see, hopefully wont as much as first thought so i can pay him and not claim on insurance, and will retain my no claims!!:j0

Just to let you know, that you have a duty of disclosure to your insurance company, whether or not you choose to pay for it yourself.
When you renew or go looking elsewhere at renewal, one of the questions always asked is "have you or anyone likely to drive your car, suffered any accidents, losses or claims within the last 3(maybe 5) years.
Insurers share info with each other and if you do not disclose it, it may invalidate any insurance.
When I worked as a claims handler about 10 years ago, I think duty of disclosure was at renewal only, but I think nowadays it is at any time.
Re: courtesy car, if you have damaged someone else's car and it is off the road for repairs, you have denied him the use of his car for those days - a loss assessor working for him would have no hesitation in claiming cost of hire car from you. You would not believe what third parties (claimants) would ask for when I worked in the industry and I bet it hasn't changed much.0
