thanks for all the replies, we have kind of gone off beaulieu park, its was quite overcrowded, and even though the houses looked large once your actually still inside them the actual footprint was small, many rooms but themselves weren't very large.

still keen on chelmsford, my children are 4, 3, 1 so its one of the reasons we want to move with decent schools.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • You could try Ingatestone which is a small town about 10/15 minutes drive south of chelmsford. It has a very good school for young children. although the house prices are quite high there. but is always worth a look

yep like brentwood alot, the missus was looking on the rightmove and the schools werent performing too well, and yet surprises me because i've always known brentwood to be good area.
plus its close to my work, which means i can get home earlier and spend more time with my kids.

  • I live in Chelmsford, and have done for most of my life. It was Chelmsford I returned to when I left my ex 5 years ago, and I have now converted my DP to Chelmsford too. He moved here from Colchester to be with me, although at some point in the next few years, we wil be looking at moving out closer to the coast.

The schools here are good, particularly CCHS (Girls High School), and KEGS (Boys Grammar School), which have been performing well for many years.

Have you thought about looking in Broomfield, Galleywood or Old Moulsham? Old Moulsham is within walking distance of the town centre. Parking can be a bit of an issue depending on the road, but some houses have off-street parking, and if not, then residents parking permits are available.
