sold our house in september last year and have been in rented accom for six months now, missus loves the houses in/around beaulieu park , chelmsford. Would be great to hear back from someone that lives in Chelmsford esp the beaulieu park estate.
I have to travel to romford, so will probably will drive, and i know the a12 isnt good in the rush hour.
anything else to look out for?

Chelmsford (borough) was in the top ten best places to live in the recent Channel 4 Location, Location, Location programme.
I live in the borough, but not in Chelmsford itself, work in Chelmsford - difficult, expensive parking. Beaulieu Park is one of the most recently built large estates in Chelmsford.

thanks for the reply, were going for a drive round tomorrow and may even view a house, maybe into the town center to get a feel of the place.
Ive heard the town center is full of clubs and pubs and its pretty rough at night.....Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
Bro-in-law lives there with his wife. Seemed okay, but sat a few kids just hanging around outside Tesco lurking around. But I'm beginning to think the chav-scum types are everywhere now0

Excellent for schools. Especially for those high achievers able to get to the grammar schools. I like shopping there, but I like shopping most places.:o
I live in a small town a few miles away personal preference for me prefer a smaller town.
I don't know the particular area you are interested in.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

Hi! Im from chelmsford! I have lived here all my life- im 24. It is a great place to live, it has everything you need!
The only places not to buy in are melborne, westlands and old springfield, they are the rough ish estates of the town. Beauli park well i dont really know it that well but when they were first built me and OH had a drive around them and ok there posh house mixed with council houses and flats. But theres no much space, the roads are very cramped, lots of parked cars all round the roads, as with any new estates today. Good areas i can recommend are sandon where i live!;) Great baddow, writtle, and north springfield where beauli park is,
Its not rough at all at night! dont know where you heard that from! Nightlife there is excellent.
I lived in galleywood end for 18 years which was a lovely quiet end of galleywood, fields opposite the house to walk the dog gorgeous and quiet, and i attended great baddow high school , which i have to admit was a very good school, has massive sports hall, swimming pool, very good no bullying went on there at all while i was there a few years back now.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
I too have always lived in Chelmsford, all 39 years!!!
It is a nice town to live, but I agree with Soprano that Chav's are everywhere these days.
Beaulieu park has had its problems, but nowhere can escape these days. I have always lived the South side of town, Great Baddow (9 yrs), Tile Kiln (22yrs) & Beechenlea (5yrs) & they have always been quiet & clean. I moved out of the main town 3 years ago to a village & absolutely love it, especially with the town in taxi distance.
I don't think that you could go wrong with purchasing in Chelmsford, after all lots of people have come out of London to live here.
Good luck & happy house hunting!!!Comping from May 2012
Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help0 -
Chelmsford is a nice place to live. If you have school age children move there as soon as you can, great schools that you do not have to pay for.0
