Test water quality?

I think something may be up with my tap water. In the washing machine draw there is black residue. Since seeing this I've stopped drinking it.(and feel disgusted that I have drunk it before.)

Is a water quality test done by the water company (United Utilities)? And does it cost? I've tried to phone several times, and have been on hold ages, and ended up hanging up in the end.

If its in your washing machine it will be the washing power/softner ive just spend all afternoon taking mine apart to give it a good clean in the pipes as they get bunged up with black grime.

Thanks, will try that, but my concern is the black residue, is where the water comes out to fill.

Phone your local environmental health department to see if they say anything or can take a water sample.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
  • Hi water quality is of much debate, personally I never drink tap water unless it is filtered!

You can buy filter taps that removes 99% of bacteria and suspended solids whilst also removing upto 95% of the chlorine, heavy metals and pesticides.

I bought mine online here pozzani

You will definately notice the difference with the water quality!
