Child free UK Hotels

Hi,
I hope this doesn't sound awful but is there a way to search for a Hotel that is child free? Is there a site that rounds them all up?! I have searched but can't find one. I want to go away in July and it looks like it will have to be in the Uk(unfortunately). The last Hotel we stayed in was nice, but we were woken up at 5am by a child in the next room screaming for her mum. Is a 4* or 5* Hotel more likely to have a child free policy?

Don't think you'll find many with such a policy, but I find that the more expensive and/ or trendy the hotel is, the less likely it is to have children staying!
I stayed at the Lowry in Manchester and didn't see any children, and in Nottingham the Lace Market Hotel allows children, but rarely has any stay (they don't have family rooms).
What kind of area are you looking for?
If you're looking for a seaside location, have a look at Number One in Blackpool ... haven't been, but it's meant to be lovely! x
I seem to attract children wherever I go (I have to stop playing that pipe!), and ended up having dinner with a German child (who spoke no English) in the Maldives!!! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Warner hotels are child free.0

We're considering a Warner hotel for my mum's 60th in May. They might be a bit old for you from what I've heard, I'm thinking they are more for the over 40's (though I could be wrong!).
There is a v nice hotel near Cardiff ... I'll have a Google and update! x
Edit: Quick Google, this is the one! The England football team used to stay here when they played there (not sure if that's a good reference or not?!) xGone ... or have I?0 -
The Warner hotels are here http://www.warnerbreaks.co.uk/index.cfm/Hotels/1028
I've heard Nidd Hall is beautiful. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
To the OP, I just wondered if you were saying it 'had' to be in the UK for cost reasons? We have stayed in some nice UK hotels but it most cases it would almost certainly (with so many low cost flights around) have been cheaper to have gone abroad.0

I have also heard good things about warners.
They might be aimed at the odler generation e.g. bowls, but hey you didn't want kids and you can't have everything :-)
We are looking at going to Thoresby hall near Nottingham.
It has a spa and I've heard from a friend that it was really nice (she's about 40).
The properties look lovely and excellent value.
We are 30s and 40s and we quite often go on cruises with people from 70s to 90s and to be honest I find that generation pretty easy to get along with as fellow holiday makers.
Some of the activities and entertainment may be aimed at that generation e.g. bowls, but some of the facilities will suit any age group e.g. swimming pool, spa so I wouldn 't be too concerned about it.0 -
dmg24 you must be loaded!
Staying at the Lowry and St Davids hotel - I wonder why you mix with us underlings on here! LOL0 -

I think most spa hotels would be child free as they're intended for adult relaxation and pampering treatments.0
