"You also have a further three months to cancel if you were not given all the necessary written information. If the trader gives you this information late - but still before the three months are up - you will have seven days to cancel from the day you receive that information"
Yes, I know it looks like I've answered my own question, but I just wanted to check with someone that might know the legal position better than me...
The legal position is that it does not apply to the provision of a service.
Read the first point at the bottom of the page where it says "when you cant cancel"0 -

Well, that's exactly it - the first point at the bottom of the page says circumstances under which you can't cancel are if:
"The trader has already started to provide the service within the cancellation period and you have agreed to this. You must have been told in writing - before the supplier agreed to carry out the service - that you would then lose your right to cancel"
Since we were never told in writing, my understanding is that we have not lost our right to cancel...0 -

But my understanding is that you didnt lose your right to cancel as they gave you a seven day cooling off period after the provision of the service had started?0 -
I signed up for BT line only. It's not an address I live at and I only use it to get broadband from another agency. I told them I didn't need any 'options', just line rental.
Then I was charged for an 'option 2' so I queried this and asked them to remove the charge.
I've just got a bill that has charged me £126 for an item called BTT2 Mutch Special Offer(Term). I queried the item and was told that it was because I changed my options. At no point was I warned that this would happen, and I was only trying to get them to rectify their original mistake.
Does anyone know whether they have a leg to stand on? Can they keep you hooked into a contract of their own making, and can they take legal action if you refuse to pay? Thanks0 -
After being with TT for years, my son returned to BT and everything was fine. They then decided to move house and within BT's facility, is the option to have your phone disconnected and reconnected within an hour or so.
They moved house three weeks ago. Many calls to India via his mobile has still failed to get the phone connected.
He has applied pressure and now liaises with a supervisor who is going to allow a £10 reduction of his next bill.
He has had a connection now, BUT with a temporary number. Next week should bring about his old number. We shall see. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
