with the bad experience i have had with 2 wireless modem/routers..... a long story... but basically i have now got a full refund.....

I still want a wireless router prefereably with a modem, but i would also like to share my printer between desktop, kids and my laptop

does any one have any recommendations, budget isnt too good, but sub £90 would be manageable

I have a dsl modem (from bt), with usb connection, my hp printer also has a usb connection

The netgear DG384G or the newer model are good. You can easily network printers (I have three) between PC's using XP printer wizard. I have them set up so that kids no which printer is best for certain tasks as they vary in quality. Don;t forget to get a USB wireless dongle for each pc and set up mac code for security. Each network adaptor are unique and given a mac code.

of the 7 belkin products I have bought over the last 2 years, I've only kept 1, of the remaining 6, they ended up in the bin or Ebay.

One visit to their support forum reveals a whole host of driver issues that go beyond just "normal" problems.

As I understand it Belkin makes the hardware, but they use other people's drivers!

the problem i had was, 1 kept overheating, but belkin didnt recognise this, althought the internet has lots of people havin g the same oproblem.

the other said it worked with vpn software, then i find it is picky which software it likes........ i must commend pcworld for their understanding and exchanging/refunding without any quibble.

I usually recommend Netgear (I use 834Gv1 and installed a 834Gv2 for somebody this week) but Buffalo stuff is supposed to be good.

You can get a Buffalo WMR-G54 (DB) with a USB2.0 Wireless adapter from PC World for £68.96 using Collect@store.

I bought a Netgear DG384G and it wouldn't work , not just for me , the bloke who built my pc said it was duff , so bought a Belkin and haven't had any problems with it.

These USB dongle thingies that someone mentioned , could someone be kind enough to post a link to one so that I know how much they cost and what they look like as i'm interested in getting a couple. TIA

Yeah, like others have said above, I'd go with the Netgear DG834G. I've read that it did have a few initial problems but they've been ironed out in newer firmware releases. They're great for setting up etc... and rarely crash.

I personally like Draytek's although the equivalent model you'd need is out of your price range (2600G - £150). It can host the printer itself, so you don't need to setup any sharing on a computer. Expensive routers, but they offer by far the best functionality, although more than I think you'd need. I had the DG834 but had to send it back as I needed a router that can handle multiple public addresses.
