I think MoTs appeal has made us all a bit down and that puts us all off an action bit. If a plan fails we feel that we can't do anything to help other people, but the reality is that every day people are helped, even by reading a post of someone else in a similar situation.

What what whaaaaaat??? :eek: what do you mean you guys are no help???? What can DFWs have to help them see the light at the end of the tunnel?????? It'd be like alcoholics anonymous but instead of being on the wagon everyone would just be drinking vodka instead of orange juice!
There is no DFW without the debt frees... they show us the way and give us the most helpful advice from a been there done that perspective that us DFWs can't appreciate... it's like your mum saying 'don't touch that it's hot'.... with noone to say that to us we're all going to be blazing fireballs in no time!!! :eek::eek::eek:!

If you do decide to leave, you'll be hugely missed. Maybe a break, as others have said, MOT's case has brought everyone down a bit but it'll improve soon.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Floss2, you have been a wonderful support for MOT and many others I'm sure.
Do whatever you feel is right for you, but I hope that if you do take a break it isn't for too long.0 -
hey;
I think it's great having debt free people around; you guys have been there and done that and got through it.
I never gave much thought to that before; but I read through the DF Roll Of Honour when I feel I'm getting nowhere.
But that said we all have to move on
take care

I just want to make a comment generally as personally I don't know if it would be best for Floss to go/take a break or whatever.
Generally speaking I think the debt free people who have been through the painful process of facing up to their debt, working through their issues and then paying off their debts are essential to this board.
Here is a quote that I've nicked off the BBC"The great thing about it was I could see people in the meetings that were well. They were living examples of what I could be. So I copied them."
This is from an alcoholic but I feel that habitual overspending has some things in common with other compulsions. People post their SOAs with Sky, high monthly mobile phones, buying the best of ranges for food but really don't understand how they can cut down further. I think these things feel essential or that people feel entitled to them or something. Someone who is a debt free person can explain what needs to go and why, someone who has never been through it might just see someone else who is a needless spender. The former will probably have more empathy than the latter. This empathy is particularly seen for me when people start making small steps and victories.
It is always a good thing to have people in the same position as you and who can support each other but it is also good to have the people who have already succeeded reassure you that you are on the right track.

Edited - just to clarify that the quote is from an alcoholic!0
