Npower & Argos (or not)!

Hi there,
Back in the summer of 07 I was in my local Argos. Npower had some reps there and being a tad disgruntled with British Gas, I agreed to switch to Npower. There was also the promise of a £25 Argos voucher to be sent to my home address along with my joining pack.
Well, 5 or 6 months later, after numerous phone calls and letters there is still no sign of an Argos voucher AND they now claim to know nothing about the promotion!
Anyone else experienced the same?

Sounds like the usual rubbish spouted by energy supplier salesmen, some of them will say anything to get you to sign up knowing by the time you get round to complaining about it they will be long gone as most of them are contracted workers.
However disgruntled I was with a supplier I would never switch via an instore salesman or a door-knocker, they lie and manipulate figures to their favour.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Thats a very sweeping generalisation which could also be libelous!0 -

Every experience I have had with salesman from any of the energy companies has been them using completely false or irrelevant information such as comparing prices with prices from another region or comparing their prices without VAT to competitors prices including VAT, things like that. I answered the door at my sisters last week to a rude guy from Southern electric that was trying to tell me he was the regional supplier (which they arent, thats EDF)
Also, next time you are confronted with one of these salesmen tell them you have a pre-payment meter and are with ebico/equipower and see what they say.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

It is in fact Southern Electric who have an Argos tariff, so it would seem unlikely that they would want anything to do with Npower (who would!)

If i remember i will look up the incentives at work tomorrow and see if the £25 argos vouchers do exsit, i know that it can normally take upto 8 weeks from your supply start date for delivery of any incentive. Will get back to you tomorrow.0 -
Checked at work today and a £25 argos voucher incentive is on the incentives list, so it wasnt a con, contact the customer services again and ask them to ge this looked into for you, date of delivery is also 6 weeks from suppply start date.0

Nice one crk81.
At the very worst, Npower could even stick a £25 credit on the OP's account if the voucher deal has ended and they say they cannot get them.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

I don't think many people would defend these sales people.
There are some genuine, good ones. Sadly, when commission comes into it you just get lots of job hoppers who will say anything for a sale.
I tend to think about all the old people, underage children, mentally disabled and other people who are easily pushed who get conned by these people.
And...all of the above groups I have seen duped by sales people in the past.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I was taken for a ride about five years ago when stopped in a shopping precinct by a Scottish Power man and asked some questions and then asked to sign a form which the guy said merely showed that he had interviewed me and given me some information. I looked through the form and this seemed to be the case, but later, it became clear that he had despicably used this information to change me from my current supplier. It was clearly a made-up form that looked official. I had changed from my original supplier some years before and would have paid more with Scottish Power."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0
