I hate to be the voice of doom, but if you're a company you are subject to the Duty of Care for waste under regulations and the ONLY way waste should be leaving your site at all is with a licensed waste carrier.

Personally, I would love to get my hands on your pallets for my woodburner, but if the Environment Agency ever got whiff of you giving them away, you could be in for some serious fines......(don't want to sound like a bureaucrat, because I'm not, and I'm all for finding them a good home, but this can be taken rather seriously by the EA).

excerpt from that site :-

Return pallets to your suppliers, use them to dispatch products or reuse them around your site.

Affix 1 screw to each pallet, sell screw to people who want it to "fix their stove" of course then you're breaching the minimise your packaging rules...

• Someone once told me that you can get a refund for pallets returned to the originator if they are not damaged (a bit like getting 5p back for a glass pop bottle... in the olden days).

It's 30p return on the bottles these days lol.

I collect used vegetable oil from local pubs and supply them with a waste transfer note. As it is for my personal use, I dont have to be licenced.

Hi,

Please does anyone have any ideas for recycling wooden pallets in the warmer months. We generate quite a few of these at work, and in the winter we have several local people who take them away to use as fuel, but we have no takers in the summer and they are at the moment going to landfill.

We have looked at commercially recycling them, but evryone seems to charge for taking them away, which was surprising as they pay us for recycling paper.

Please does anyone have any ideas what to do with them? The only other thing I can think of is the local allotments could use them for raised beds

I may be able to help you with this problem. I am looking for free wooden pallets. I can pick up at no cost to yourselves.
If this sounds agreeable please contact me by email (darrell.wilson@oakworth.co.uk) or directly by phone on 07990784275.
Thanks.

You can make great wooden pallet chairs and recliners from pallets. I'd send you a link to pictures but can't as I am a newbie!

So just type "pallet chair plans" in google images and you'll get all the inspiration you need!

I hope that's of some use!

Are they definitely going to landfill? For instance if they went to my local tip they would be treated as wood waste and not end up in landfill
