My OH has Scotts Porridge Oats for breakfastwith a little added water and then into the microwave - I want to find some cheaper porridge, but it needs to be microwaveable for quicknes int he mornings otherwise he just won't eat?
Any suggestions on brands? (BTW I will be filling his Scotts box up with it as he's 'brand' fussy!)
Thanks

Hi
I use Tescos own brand porridge and find it just as nice as the more expensive brands. Its not expensive and you can always use it for flapjacks if he doesn't like it (Hint: keep the packet hidden till you have used it 2 or 3 times, he might not notice)

I use Tesco Value porridge oats (about 50p for 1Kg bag). I make this in the microwave. 50g in a bowl add 300ml of milk or water, 2 mins on high, stir, 2 mins on high and serve. Its perfect.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I think they're all microwaveable, certainly I've used a few different ones and the only difference I noticed was that some have bigger flakes than others0

I use Tesco/sainsbury's or whatever[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"[/SIZE]

But the bigger flakes makes a difference to the texture so he might notice - I only like the big flake ones - the Sainsbury taste the difference one is very nice - not sure how much your usual ones cost.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Thanks - Tesco Value it is then! I might mix half and half as he hasn't finished his Scotts yet
THanks for this I wasn't sure if they were all microwaveable as I know some people do them on the hob.
A saving of 84p this weekend then :j (Value 59p per 1kg - Scotts £1.43 per 1kg )
Thanks everyone0 -
Oooh I've just noticed on mysupermarket.com Tescos have Value and Tescos Scottish Porridge oats for 10p more - how would these differ?
Before I go shopping I might check the size of the Scotts and get one similar! Thanks0 -
Skint_catt - I've just tried the netto one which was 58p for a whopping big bag. I'm used to readybrek so it was chunkier but easy in microwave. I'd do half and half to adjust him, too. Going to do that myself with kids.;)

I found the flakes in the normal Tesco one smaller than the flakes in the Value one, hope that helps.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
