Morning all fellow MSE members,
Just logged in to my bank and I have an extra payment from Tax Credits is only £39.00 but I am not suppose to get any payment untill Monday on next week. Now do we think this will be an extra payment of will this be my new amount.
I have had no letters from them to tell em any different and I usually get double what has been placed in my account.
Any help will be great
TY

Hi could you give them a ring, or leave it till monday then you will know if they have changed your payment day or if it is extra payment.
Hope it is extra.
Best wishes

My husband and I just had the same thing yesterday!
Normally get paid on Monday and some money went in yesterday that is less than we normally get and like yourself, have not received any letters to tell us anything is going to happen.
Any ideas from anyone in the know:question:0 -
Right I just called them which I hate doing as they ask too many questions lol
They said over the past month or soo they have been calculating what people have been paid, ie too much or too little and in my case I have not been paid enought. She also advised my payment will be fine for Monday.
She was very nice and said just call it a late xmas present for us
So now I know

What is happening is - if you have not given TCO an estimated income for the current tax year they are calculating it by using last years declared figure and increasing it by the rate of inflation to calculate your provisional award once we get in to the next tax year.
Unfortunately, any change of income details can cause a recalculation of your award and this sometimes generates a "one-off payment". Your future payments will decrease to balance out your award because you have received this payment.
It may be a pain in the @ss but there is no point complaining to TCO as they award you on a yearly basis not a weekly/monthly and as long as you get the right amount for the year they arent too interested.
We, in the Call Centres, were only informed of what was happening yesterday.0 -

This was a stupid thing to say to any applicant as they will be expecting their normal payments not reduced payments.0 -

Tax Credits are not paid at the weekend. They are only in the account at weekends if your bank releases the funds early.0

Yes this seems to be happening quite a bit just now, it is just the time of year - I think TCO are trying to enocourage people to give an estimate of their current year income to save overpayments/underpayments when it comes to the annual renewal period.0
