What a good idea, seven-day-weekend!
Another idea that yours sparked off is - does the school that The Boy goes to have any boarders? There are schemes for boarders to stay at people's homes at weekends/holidays and for them to be befriended, and you get paid for this - don't know how much, but it would be possibly more socially acceptable for Dad to "take in/help out" another boy from The Boy's school than any Tom/!!!!!!/Harry, as he might see it ..... If you could ask the school if they ever need anyone for this sort of "help", you never know - they might be praying for someone like you! It can't hurt to offer to help them out ....
just a thought
Also, there are foreign language students who need lodgings, you could always ask around at any big firms in the area - you could be "starting up a new business", which you would be, in fact - to see if they have members of staff who would appreciate a [relatively] cheap and welcoming B&B. The idea being that the company pays you and the chap/ess turns up and it's all paid for for him/her already. Saves the company a lot of hassle, ditto for him/her.
I'll keep coming up with ideas, if you'd like.

ps if OH says he doesn't want anyone in his home, you could gently point out that unless you do - he won't have a home to not have anyone in at all very soonTough but true
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Also, how about registering your cv on a website so that potential employers can contact u - amazing how many phone calls you can get!
I am facing a very real possibility of redundancy at the moment, so would be interested if you could recommend any online sites. I'm already registered with the one (wow!) agency in our town.
thanks - and sorry BR, for jumping in on your thread.0 -

Some good news!!!
I did two days work last week (Mon-Tues) and got paid today. i was expecting two day's pay (as you would), but no..I got £288!!!!!
I rang the agency and asked them about this cos i didn;t want to be spending money that they would then want back.
She checked her details and said it looked ok, but asked if she could ring me back. Well, she just has and after checking with the IR, it turns out to be
correct...so it feels like I've got some 'free' money - a tax rebate!!!Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70

That's very good news. I remember an old saying that " money attracts money" i have found it to be true and i wish the same for you, you're on a roll now.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
