Hello, Blushing Rose - just stumbled over this thread, sorry to be late. Hope today went well.
I've just deleted a MAJOR amount about including your OH and stepson. Really, they do need to be fully involved, it's not just you. There, lecture over!
Something for YOU to remember - remember that you have brought happiness into their lives, that having you around is making a better future for you all.
It may seem that everything is turning to dust in your hands.... just blow the dust away and keep holding hands and you'll all be ok.
hugs
DGIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -

OK, am starting to feel seriously depressed about all this again :-(
Decided to look at the stuff we've done so far.
Switched car insurance from Zurich to I love Eco = saved £17:68 a month
Switched from 10 monthly to 12 monthly payments on council tax
Will be getting child benefit again soon, plus back payment
The Boy has applied from EMA grant
We did the following before finding the site:
cancelled window cleaning
cancelled bin cleaning
stopped all charity donations
cancelled sky
reduced The Boy's pocket money
transferred most of the balence from capital one credit card onto egg & virgin as they are 0% interest until next yearOur LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Don't get depressed you are doing lots to help the situation. There's another thread on here which asks what little thing have you done today? It all adds up and its money you didn't have before.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Ok, so how much extra a month does that give you? Celebrate the fact.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Firstly, put figures against what you have saved doing the above; on here if you like but for yourself definitely.
You need to work on that food bill next; go to the old style forum with a cup or tea in hand and look at the monthly shopping challenges.
List what you have in cupboards; and aim to get that shopping bill to a bare minimum for a while; leave no item of food unlogged and planned into next month's menu planner. This is a good one for all of you one evening.
Only buy, as cheaply as you can, what you need for the next month's food, try and only go shopping twice in the next month for stock items and if you are still using butchers and greengrocers, only get what is on the list, obviously you can visit here weekly to eat fresh!!! Or just stick to supermarkets for a couple of months - hard to do when you trying to support local shops but sometimes necessary for finance purposes.
Keep treats to a minimum, if you can. Shop at the end of the day [there will be offers the day before a new stock up and I think people give dates on old style board when each shops reduces items - a lot reduce at the end of each day anyway]. If you truly want comments; post the shopping that you get [minus personal items] on here - but that's up to you of course how far you want to go.
Are there any jobs that you can apply for from last night's paper. Do you want any of us to look at your CV? I usually look at one a week on this forum through PM. I am a Company Director and have much experience of CVs, so feel free if you want me to take a look at it.
I wish I could come around and make you a cuppa and help - have you got a friend there that understands and who can sit with you and cheer you up as you drag the cupboards apart and list everything...seriously - I am as tight as a [insert your own phrase here] but only because I have lived the frugal life before - and even I have some couscous that I have never used in the cupboards.
Keep your chin up though - and if you can make that phone call about your benefits - if you have paid nat ins then you are entitled to them so go get them.0
